COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We craft this much like a sculptor who uses only a hammer and chisel to shape stone into a masterpiece. Hoppe is spawned of these few essentials: barley, wheat, hops, yeast and water. This limited palette is an exercise in minimalism, with refined elements which are deliberately selected. This simple combination creates a golden shimmering brew infused with delicate aromas. The artful nature of this beer is exposed with the first taste. As the malt and hops created a composition of flavors, and elegant finish leaves an impression that your tastes will not soon forget. Don’t be deceived by th innocence of Hoppe. Please enjoy in moderation.

If rust could look smooth with waves of golden highlights and penny copper hues, then this would be the pour of Southern Tier’s Hoppe cascading down the bomber into my neat Oktoberfest mug. Too bad it stayed in the fridge, opened, for nearly a week before I had a chance to try it out. Nonetheless, the flavors are fairly intact enough for a decent rating. Nose of (almost burnt) biscuit with hints of caramel and almond. Musky citrus notes. Great bitter punch in the overall taste from grassy residue. Almond, again, hits the palate this time. Decent mouthfeel. Overall: Grassy, nutty, honey, past-prime-citrusy. Rebuy: Yes.

The body is bright orange/golden color with some carbonation streaming up to support its tall creamy head. The thick rocky or meringue like head had awesome retention and made lots of cool lacing on the glass. In the nose I pick up notes of citrusy orange and grapefruit like hops with sweet bready/biscuity grain notes underneath. A neutral alcohol is also present and reminds you that this is an Imperial beer. There is a big pale wheat and bready/biscuity malt base with tons of good citrusy, herbal and pine notes right up front and through out. Bitterness is solid and slowly fades off the tongue in the finish. Its palate is nicely carbonated and firm feeling.

Draft at macgregors Macedon, NY, 2009. (From old notes, this place has since closed down). Sharp aromas of piercing hops. Heavy bitterness and brutal flowers. Very exciting. Almost another level of beer drinking experience. So elliptical. Transcendent.

bomber and I don’t know how old this one is but it poured a murky orange color with white head that just lingered around for awhile. leaving nice lacing on the glass. the aroma medium malt and some strong citrus hop action. very refreshing. the flavor is damn good..medium malt backbone and some citrus and floral hops in the flavor. evenly balanced from front to back. another solid beer from southern tier.

Aroma is fresh with hops, some citrus and wheaty notes. Flavour has fruits, hops, soapy citrus, some apricot and wheaty notes. Also some alcohol. A stronger version of Hop Sun.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Hazy, golden straw with 2-finger ivory head and excellent lacing. Aroma of green tea, caramel and pungent hops. Tastes sharply of pine resin and caramel with spice, fruit, citric and floral hops and grass. Starts bitter but amble malt sweetness quickly asserts itself. Full body and high carbonation produce a very assertive mouthfeel. This is a "big" beer in everything but the aroma. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled sample. American Strong Ale could be my new favourite beer. Great blend of hops and citrus. Loved this one
