We rely on age-old tools in the brewery despite being surrounded by high technology. As a sort of compass, we use the six pointed brewer’s star to help navigate uncharted brews. The cardinal points of water, malt, grain, yeast, hops and a brewer make the baseline. From there anything goes. Sometimes the journey is as important as the destination.

You’ll notice a slight bitterness in Compass derived from our use of rose hips accentuated by high effervescence. Drink it cold from a fluted or tulip glass. And by all means, avoid sea serpents.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a large white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves reasonable lacing. Fresh citrus and leafy hops notes mix with light white bread malt and floral rosehip notes to create the aroma. Zesty lemon and lime hops up front give way to white bread and caramel malt in the mid-palate. Mild floral bitterness from the rosehips combines with leafy hops to finish. This is not the most complex beer out there, but it is one of the most refreshing, with enough about it to maintain a bit of interest too.

Light haze on this pale gold beer, good white head. Crispy palate. Light malt base, touch of cream. Light citrus, nice orange, grapefruit and mild lemon. Nice sweetish floralness. Something else fruity as well, the rosehips most likely. Light finish. Tasty and very drinkable. Pleasingly floral - fruity.

A lot going on here. Points for the exceptionally floral aroma. A little too much from the rose hips to be enjoyable. Leaves an odd taste in my mouth.

Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Smells of rose and citrus. Taste is bitter with a floral flavor. Medium-bodied with a wet texture and fizzy mouth-carbonation, Southern Tier Imperial Compass finishes with a lingering bitterness.

Strong floral & citrus notes in the aroma. Taste is similar with a great hoppy finish, but pleasantly without excessive bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from 22 oz. bottle. Clear, bright golden-yellow with a pale chartreuse tinge, a 4-finger near white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of orange, citrus, pineapple and caramel. Taste of orange, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, floral hops and caramel. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy yellow. Aroma of fruit with tart astringency and dusty flowers. Taste is like a tincture; medicinal and planty. Some yeast and honey flavors. Acidic. Not my thing.
