COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We rely on age-old tools in the brewery despite being surrounded by high technology. As a sort of compass, we use the six pointed brewer’s star to help navigate uncharted brews. The cardinal points of water, malt, grain, yeast, hops and a brewer make the baseline. From there anything goes. Sometimes the journey is as important as the destination.

You’ll notice a slight bitterness in Compass derived from our use of rose hips accentuated by high effervescence. Drink it cold from a fluted or tulip glass. And by all means, avoid sea serpents.

Bomber. Pours clear yellow with a big white head that dissipates quickly, with champagne-like bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass the whole time. Aroma is a bit of grass and some alcohol. Tastes is lemony-citrus and subdued, sweet malt, with a little black pepper spiciness. The bitter aftertastes of lemon sticks around for a good while. Very highly carbonated, a bit too much for me. A very good beer, though not something I have a strong desire to try again.

Pours a cloudy, amber color with a white head. Aroma is of floral hops, earthy tones, lemon, and some yeast. Flavor is sweet at first from the lemon and citrus. Finishes with the yeast and earthy tones with a little warming on the finish.

22 oz. bottle. Hazy pale urine color, thin white head. Aroma is a huge amount of citrus and floral hops. Edible flowers.

Flavor is really floral. Over the top flowers and grass. Pilsner malt baseline with some citrus flavors. (Mango and tangerines) lightly acidic notes. Small traces of yeast. Lighter in body with a dry texture.

I don’t know what to really feel about this brew. The citrus and floral notes are really bright and bold, yet I feel like it has too much floral character. Nice too try and some palates may enjoy this.

Lightly cloudy yellow with a bright white head. IPA meets saison. Hoppy, floral, earthy. This is really a neat beer!

I went out of my comfort zone to get this beer (what the f@#k are rose hips anyway)? Not usually a fan of Belgian beers, but here goes. It was on sale for $3.99 at the Wine and Cheese Place, so I thought I’d give it a try. The first thing I noticed about this beer was its one of a kind aroma. This is one of the best beers I have ever smelled and certainly the most unique. It smells of honey, many types of citrus (grapefruit, tangerine, lemon), some hops and light malt. It pours a dark yellow, it’s cloudy and it looks unfiltered. The foam is bright white and leaves lacing on your glass. Bubbles rise from the bottom to the top after it is poured. The taste is bitter up front, but fades into a refreshing blend of citrus and light spice. I would characterize it is a hoppier version of a shandy. Very refreshing. I will be remembering this one for the summer. The palate is also unique. It is effervescent and leaves a long aftertaste. Bonus points for originality. I’m very glad I tried this one. I don’t like everything from Southern Tier, but I do love how they always take chances and refuse to be defined. This one is a must try.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a whipped eggwhite head. Aroma is flowers and a little perfume. Taste is sweet pale malt, tartness and hop cone bitterness. Bitterness lingers on the palate after the swallow, along with some alcohol warmth. Interesting.

22 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Pours a hazy, pale bright gold with an inch-plus of white head that laces the glass and lasts as a thin layer. Aroma of bready and pale malts, straw, lemon, grass, and herbs. Flavor of lemon, apricot, straw, pale and bready malts, grass, tangerine, and faint flowers. A dash of baking soda on the finish. Light-medium bodied, with a mouthfeel that starts dry and gets fuller, smoother, and fruitier. Moderate carbonation. Drinks less than 9% and doesn’t show a big Belgian character. Nice beer.

Sweet, floral-candied aroma. Bomber. Mostly clear, perhaps a bit misty, pale greenish gold. Sweetish, citric candy flavor, medium-low hopping/bitterness. Lightish body. Grainy, flowery aftertaste. New Leaf Market, on firesale @ $1.99/bomber.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy pale gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left light lace. Pleasant aroma of floral hops along with a bit of orange. The flavor is malt with some floral and citrus hops. A bit of sweetness as well throughout which I like. Mild-moderate bitterness at the finish. The 9% abv is very well hidden. Enjoyable.
