“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

The body has a very dark black color which I can’t even see through. On top of this opaque body sits a small tan head which fades quickly leaving just a ring of lace. Glass lacing is minimal and very slick. The aroma is over the top sweet and roasty. It’s heavy on roasted barely, burnt caramel and dark toast. I also pick up light notes of toffee and hard butterscotch candy. The flavor sweet sweet sweet!!! It has a full bodied hit of sticky sweet roasted malt that delivers notes of burnt caramel, burnt toast and burnt raisins. Molasses and chocolate also hit the sweet tooth and then everything hooks up with the boozy alcohol and rides slowly off into the finish. The palate is smooth creamy and sticky all at the same time and the carbonation offers little help in lifting this feeling.

Bottle. Nearly black pour with a thick mocha head. Creamy chocolate and raisin aroma. Lots of chocolate in the flavour, smooth oats, a touch of coffee and dark fruits. Full bodied and very flavourful, but perhaps a touch sweet. Nearly perfect.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a dark cola with foamy beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt and chocolate with a touch of oats. Tastes like it smells, but with a bit more of an oatmeal presence. Nice and smooth on the palate. A good example of the style.

bomber pour..dark brownish black hue..nose is quite good..like an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips..has plenty of barrel aging notes as well despite I believe not spending time in a barrel? taste is chocolatey smooth with the oat backbone..smooth slightly boozy..goes down pretty easily despite the high abv..very impressed with this offering

An excellent beer from Southern Tier. Pours deep black color. Strong aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malt. A mellow beer with a high ABV. Amingst the best oak stouts. Highly recommended.

Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a thick, rich, mocha colored head. Chocolate, spent coffee grounds, and date nose. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Taste approximates the nose. Nice bitterness seamlessly transitions from and balances the sweetness.

If I had to, and I mean really had to like I was being strong armed and backed into a corner I could probably declare a favorite personal beer style. Though chances of that scenario playing out are slim to none thanks to the NSA having my back 365. Oatmeal Stouts, they are what’s up. I said it. Look at all the highest ratings… See a trend? You can do so much with a stout that you are unable to do with any other beer style period. Oatmeal Stout+ Southern Tier= Ungodly Fruit. Brew pours an oily abyss. Light brown copper where the liquid meets the glass. Decent khaki head that dissipates rapidly. Intense chocolate and raison on the aroma. Oatmeal is present on the pallet but accompanied by toasty malts and raison. This is a thick and hearty beer, it should be respected at 10.5 percent. The velvety smooth finish and texture work wonders hiding the otherwise austere alcohol percent. Again another example of an Oatmeal Stout that does work.

650ml Flasche.
