“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

Draft. Jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, largely oat and chocolate. Taste follows suit but is amplified. Sweet but not too sweet. Almost reminiscent of a hearty alcoholic chocolate milk. Rich silky palate. Not sure why it took me so long to try this one. It's great.

Raffinata ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

Bomber poured into imperial stout goblet. Pours a thick black with a dark tan head. The aroma is full of roasted malt and caramel. Hints of the oats come through, and there is slight note of alcohol, which at 11% it's hard to think it won't be there. The taste is incredible. A lot of caramel and roasted malt with a light feeling of alcohol in it. The mouth feel lingers perfectly for an imperial stout. Overall, a solid, solid beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is sweet malt, slight booze, oatmeal and vanilla. Appearance is thick black, medium-brown head. Taste is also sweet, almost as it smells. Sweet malt, vanilla, milk chocolate, slight booze mostly hidden by flavor. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft carbonation and velvety smooth. Overall, solid, as the blackwater series have all been thus far.

Aroma is malty and thick with a boozy edge. Appearance is a dark brown with a small yellowish head. Taste is boozy but malty and sweet with a bitter finish. Palate is a bit watery, despite looking thick. It diminishes the enjoyment but increases the drinkability.

This looks as it should for the style, pitch, thick, solid black in color with a medium brown colored head. The aroma is certainly the best I’ve ever smelled for an imperial oatmeal stout. Potent alcohol, softened by its roasted, but malty and soft oat body makes for a great combination. It smells more like a slightly aged barleywine than an imperial stout. Man, yes, just like a very-well brewed, aged barleywine, with sweet, fresh caramel peeking its way around the edges of the alcohol. It smells just like a freshly prepared candy apple if you hold your nose a few inches away from the glass. It starts much like a barleywine (definitely nothing like an imperial stout) up front, with alcohol and sweet malts dominating softly on the palate. Some roasted malts start to show in the middle, but have there’s no bitterness at all. It’s really quite fantastic. Roasted malts and a mash of alcohol, oats, chocolate, and wonderful, acute hops take over in the finish. I rarely enjoy a stout with as much hop character as this, but it really works in this beer. It’s wildly complex in the mouth, but so very, very soft. And that flavor as soon as it hits the lips and tongue... man, to die for. Rich, thick, and nothing like what you’d expect of an imperial stout. I’d almost consider categorizing this as a black barleywine, but it’s just a little too smooth with oats too present. This is a fantastic beer, and something not to miss.
