Clear dark dark brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, oat. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy and smooth, carbonation is soft. [20090128]

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of coffee, soy sauce, and caramel. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of alcohol, as well as medium notes of oatmeal, coffee, roasted malt, and caramel, leading to a dry finish, where the alcohol burns the throat. Nice.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 7. Pours dark brown to black with a diminished light brown head. Breadish and roasted dark malty aroma, has a dried fruit note too. Chocolate flavoured with a distinct liqourice in the finish. Gives a smooth chocolate flavour along the way and slowly leading into a nice finish with a distinct liqourice note.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of kmweaver. Pours a clear, warm, dark brown with a reddish hue and a creamy, light brown head. Fat, vinous aroma - almost port like with some raisiny notes. Very full-bodied, this pours thick and sirupy. Loads of hard roasted malts, licorice and dried fruit. Rather subdued bitterness. Lovely indeed. 021107

Bottled. Deep brown colour, close to black, not much head. Aroma is sweet malts, licorice, some mild roast as well as coffee and chocolate in a really nice balance. Flavour is the same along with some mildly stinging alcohol. Good stout, which is wellbalanced.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2008 Bottled, thanks kmweaver! Almost black with minimal head. Loads of molasses and chocolate, followed by tar and licorice. Very sweet and thick with massive body, gets cloying and edgy with lots of alcohol coming through. An unbalanced mess.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Sweetish roasted malty milk chocolate flavor with hints of coffee and oat. Has a sweetish roasted malty chocolate finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Black color, brown head. Mild aroma of roasted malt and caramel, very light phenol. Good body strength, chewy malty and caramel flavor with chocolate and roasted malt, strong bitterness and strong alcohol warmth. Very good.
