“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

Poured into a snifter. 3.5 A: Black color. One finger of light brown frothy/creamy head. Retention is lacking and just a wisp or two of lacing are left. 4.0 S: Roasted malts and chocolate up front. Oats are powerful in this and add their trademark oat aroma. Complex layers of caramel and molasses. Fairly simple, but very nice. 4.0 T: Taste is just as good. Roasted malts, semisweet chocolate, and oats are the strongest with nearly as much caramel and molasses. 4.25 M: Heavy body. Good moderate carbonation. Pleasantly creamy and super smooth. 4.0 D: Very tasty beer. Good for a Friday night. ★ 601 characters DavoleBomb, May 09, 2014

Bottle from cellar that’s been aging over three years. Sweet aroma. Is there a bit of fruit? Cedar, oat and nut, chocolate, barley, roasted malts. Diverse character. Flavor is leaning heavily towards sweet then roasted then bitter then sweet again. Interesting. Very good though and alcohol is very well disguised. Smooth and creamy. Medium body.

2.5 year old bomber split with Jenny while we watched those episodes of Castle where they resolve the 3XK saga. Oily, moderately thick black pour, medium off white head. Aroma is subtly earthy but massively sweet dark chocolate with burnt nuts. Flavor is surprisingly ashy to start, moving on to sweet n’ luscious dark chocolate syrup, and finishing with toast and roasted nuts. Oily and velvety body, even if not thick. Roasted nuts and earthy chocolate lingers for miles. Quite nice!
