COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

A pitch black beer with a coffee aroma. The chocolate malts give a slightly sweet taste. A very enjoyable stout.

Super Bowl pour. Tulip. Nose is metallic cocoa with some light caramel and a slight hop presence. Pour is black with a khaki head. The taste is where this one shines. Light alcohol presence with a bit of spice. Some dark fruit. Nice sweet chocolate tone that turns slightly, just slightly bitter at the end. A good sipper that is nice and drinkable.

Pours pitch black color with medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dark roasted malts, lots of oat, tar, syrup notes, hints of caramel, oak and vanilla notes and a bit of rye. Flavor of roasted malts and rye, sweetish syrupy oats, chocolate notes, mild vanilla, mocha-like coffee notes, wood and some hints of fruit on the aftertaste. Thick and oily texture, mild bitter and sweet palate with a long sweet chocolaty aftertaste. Very tasty but heavy dessert delicacy to be enjoyed slowly.

Appearance - DEEP brown, thick head
Aromas - Mellow, roasted, cocoa, nutty
Taste - Malty, chocolate, coffee, nutty, yeast, bitter

Not really a huge fan of the oatmeal stouts (unless barrel-aged). BUT, this one is truly fantastic, sip after sip. Fairly hoppy as well, and with a profound and sweet malty undertone that satisfies the palate.

Draft. Pours deep, dark brown with medium tan head; good retention and spare lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate, grain, and light alcohol. Flavor is malt forward, but balanced nicely with earthy hop notes and some dark fruit esters. Full body, low carbonation, and medium/high warmth.

650ml bottle, 10.8% abv., bought at Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. Oily pour making a modest, light brownish head that left fragile lacing behind. Deep, jet-black body. Smell of oat, cocoa and anise. Flavoured with dark mocha chocolate, liquorice and underlying dark fruits, as well as hints of mild, dark spices. Subdued candy sweetness. Long lived bittersweet ending. Full bodied and warming. Perfect as a delicious sipper on a dark winter evening (Tromsø, 21.01.2012).

Bottle from Vinmonopoelt (Vika), Oslo. Small beige head that initially needs some swirling to develop. Very dark brown colour with a faint red hue. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, licorice, wood, dried fruit. Quite sweet malty taste that finishes fairly dry. Good balance. Full body, soft carbonation. Dangerously good drinkability.
