nearbeer (1694), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 3, 2009 Bomber. Opaque with a small head that tries to last. Nose of coffee, chocolate and cookie dough. Flavors are the same. Medium-heavy body is a bit watery but smoothly carbonated. minch25 (290), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2009 Pours dark brown, not quite opaque, thin khaki head.
Aroma - chocolate, burnt fruitcake, oats, milk, well-integrated alcohol notes.
Flavor - oats, dark chocolate, alcohol. Medium/thick bodied; soft carbonation. This is rather different from other takes on the style. Combination of sweet from the chocolate and alcohol, and dry from the oats. Enjoyable, not outstanding; no problems with this one. craftbeerdesign (582), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jun 20, 2009 2008 bomber... poured into a snifter glass. pours a light black from the bottle and settles an average black with a decent size tan head. strong licorice and sweet sugar aromas. medium body which transforms the palate from ordinary to sublime. there is a burst of citrus hops and licorice up front, followed by a very smooth chocolate / coffee undertone on the base of the mouth. there is a true feeling of strength both in alcohol and flavor throughout... it really grabs hold of your tongue and doesn’t let go.... on the finish the stinging bitterness comes through with more sweetness and a burst of alcohol. it’s almost like a candi sugar coated stack of chocolate coffee cake with some hops loaded on top. yummy. travita (1395), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 16, 2009 The color is black as midnight with a decent tan colored head.
