4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle. Pours black with a thin brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is citrus hops, which is surprising for such a dark beer. There’s also some faint caramel and chocolate malt with a hint of bitter coffee. Flavor is unique, for sure, again combining the citrus and pine from the hops with the chocolate, caramel, and bitter coffee from the malts. Hints of licorice and a mineral earthiness are also evident. Finish is rather dry with lingering hop bitterness. Medium/full bodied with light fizz. A nice, interesting brew.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with no head. Aroma is coffee and citrus hops. Taste is the same plus a little chocolate and soda. Alcohol is very well-hidden. Syrupy mouth feel with low carbonation. Very drinkable and enjoyable - in fact, I didn’t realize how fast I drank this one. Very good beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from lilbeerdoctor, thanks Margaret. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is interesting, hops sure, but also sorta bitter coffee, maybe i’m just crazy tonight. Taste is more like i’d expect, sweet and hoppy, and nicely balanced.

22 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark ruby tinted red with a large offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is huge resin and pine hop notes with a bit of caramel. Taste is earthy, herbal citrus hops with a fair amount of toffee. Medium bodied.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is very floral with hints of grapefruit and earthy hops. Light underlying roast and dark malt sweetness. Pours like a cola with a nice bubbly beige head and good lacing. Grainy dark malt flavors, touch of sweetness, mildly bitter earthy floral hops with just a slight hint of citrus, and then more grainy sweetness. In the finish is a mix of flavors that linger: earth, floral hops, dark malt and some alcohol and a bit of licorice. A touch of alcohol warmth. Lots of flavors, but to me not a lot of cohesion. By no means bad, but just not harmonious for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is nicely hopped, grapefruit, piney, light coca-cola scent, sweet, and very floral aroma. Appearance is like the aroma. It pours like coca-cola, looks like coca-cola but with a medium sized tan head that lingers. Taste is hop forward, candy but good, sweet again but not too sweet. A really interesting beer to say the least. Palate has a lingering hop aftertaste, quite carbonated mouth feel, and a medicinal taste on the lips and tongue. Overall, I thought it was an interesting brew. I liked it. Cheers!

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber, shared with Alex and Bram. Pours pitch black with a wispy, soapy head. Aroma is of huge hops, primarily pine and grapefruit. Palate is subdued and more buttery than crisp overall. Flavors to this beer confuse me. They take awhile to really define themselves, and even then, it was an oddly grainy, brown sugary juxtaposition of hop fruitiness with dark malt, and licorice. I am a big fan of Southern Tier, but this beer just never comes together for me. Interestingly, the very experience of this not coming together is interesting . . . perhaps I can summarize by saying the flavors cancel themselves out to produce something indescript?

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a deep rich black with a medium thick tanned head. Lots of lovely lacing on the glass. Aromas are interesting. Lots of nice floral and piney hops, but smoke, roast, caramel. Flavor is remarkably sweet and smooth. Medium bodied with notes of brown sugar, molasses, candy, vanilla. Finishes with a little more sweetness, and a nice bitterness. Really sweet, possibly to a fault, but a very neat beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown, with a small off white head. Smells of some dark malt, mixed with hops, roast ,dark fruits, and caramel. Lot going on in the flavor, it was like it was so in between styles for me. each sip was something different whic was very interesting. Petty sweet overall, with the caramel and sweet maltiness a big part of it, but the crisp hop bitterness shows up in the finish and aftertaste. unusual beer, but was pretty cool to try.
