3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (795) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - MAY 3, 2012Poured into a tulip glass. Brown in the pour, almost black in the glass. A one finger, light tan head.
Smells strongly of malt with a sharp citrus in the middle. Toffee and molasses dominate.
Taste has a rich malt layer, ripe fruit (sweet) with a light bitterness at the end. Complex and enjoyable.
Soft and bubbly initially. Later it was more syrupy, medium bodied throughout.
Interesting drink. I thought it was going to be like a Schwartzbier, but it was advertised on the bottle as a Black IPA... but it was neither and very enjoyable.

Tap at Smith’s Billiards, Springfield MA 19/05/13.
Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head.
Nose is hops, pine, blackcurrants, dark malt.
Taste comprises jammy berry fruits, dusting of cocoa, hops, touch of pine.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish.
A decent CDA, alcohol well integrated, would perhaps like a bit more tropical fruit to make this a great.
