COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Tier Iniquity is an Imperial Black IPA, which is also called an Imperial India Brown Ale. This is a style that seems to be increasing in popularity. The hexagram talisman has been used around the world for centuries to invoke magic and good luck. Wishes of good fortune often collaborate with the brewer’s creative to yield dramatic results. We carefully chose the name for this Imperial IBA, Iniquity - a word opposing goodness. Why? This beer is contrary to what one might expect from an IPA; this is an ale as black as night. It is the antithesis of Unearthly. Some may consider it an immoral act to blacken an ale. We suggest they don’t rely on conventional standards. Allow the darkness to consume you. Iniquity weighs in at 9% alcohol by volume. It uses four different hops and 2-row pale malt along with debittered black malt in it’s brewing.

Draft. A deep red beer with small Tan head. The aroma has notes of hops, grapefruit, and grass at first, but underneith are lighter notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, medium notes of chocolate, wood, and fruity hops, leading to a dry roasted, hoppy and malty finish. Nice.

Bottled. Deep rubyish amber colour with a small, but firm, beige head. Aroma is very floral and fruity hops and also has some slight caramelly and bready malts in it. Alcohol gives a slight sweetness to it all. Flavour is fruity and floral hops along with some raisins, alcohol and mild caramel malty notes as well. Pleasant.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Near black, small head. Grapefruity nose with some roastiness. Mid sweet with clean bold mouthfeel and medium-full body. Notes of black currant, grapefruit and licorice. Some cocoa in a fairly bitter finish. One dimensional and overall fairly dull, though with some pleasant hop flavours.

Very dark brown beer, just about clear. Very moderate carbonation. Soft palate. Sweet creamy malt, very soft. Blends seamlessly with sweet hops that impart peach and a little melon. Finishes soft and creamy with some alcohol, minerals and a touch of hop bitterness. Very nice!

Very dark brown color. The aroma is very hoppy and perfumy, with caramel. Excellent body structure, rich caramel flavor, quite sweet but not too sugary, with very good chocolate backbone, and rhubarb candies (sweet herbal caramel); in the final the hop manages to appear even with such a rich beer. Excellent.
