COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rochester is a quick drive, just about two hours from the brewery. Wed take 394 to 90 to 490 to the Inner Loop. This beer is made specially for Rochester Real Beer Week, and is a farmhouse style ale we ferment with real maple syrup from our neighbors at Big Tree Maple, literally next door to the brewery. Although it is made with syrup, we use it in a way that Flemish brewers add sugar, not for sweetness but to help fermentation. Expect a sessionable beer at 5.0% abv, with esters of banana and clove.

On tap at MacGregors. Poured golden with a white head and not much lace. A little spice and funk in the aroma. Spice and pepper in the flavor. Saison, not my style.

Growler from the Malt & Market on monroe Ave. Looks quite attractive, golden and clear. Alas, this is a very mellow Saison. Slight yeasty spice and botanical, but not much funk. I dont detect any maple. The temptation is to say their heart wasnt in it, or perhaps they thought this custom brew was for a civilian crowd and needed to be toned down. But ST has struggled with this style before.

Tap at macgregors penfield. Pours a clear golden color with a puffy white head. Aromas of sweet corn, some yeasty esters. Taste is quite dry with some spice/pepper. Finishes dry And slightly bitter. Its ok.

On tap at the Dinosaur. Was surprised to see this as Id never heard of it. Id have never guessed the style. Not much funkiness, or spiciness that I detected. I thought it was a Pils, based on a mild hop backbone and not much else.
