COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Found this delightful. Would really, really like to try again as I seem to have an ever changing pallet that allows me to love a hop variety one day and possibly not as much the following week. This was just so well balanced and with hops way forward, but not aggressively so. Well done. Thanks to Shadey.

Bottle. Golden with light head. Although hoppy it does not fell bitter. Full but stil mild. A touch of citrus or lime.

12 oz bottle, via rudolf. Copper colored body with a small off-white head that fades to a thin covering. Citric hop aroma with a lightly sweet malt background. Pretty low level of hoppiness in the flavor for an IPA, with a lightly bitter finish. Malt background is fairly subtle as well. Light to medium bodied with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation composed of fine bubbles. Overall, a decent beer, very easy drinking and not overly aggressive.

I liked this IPA, although it was much darker than the usual IPA. My freind thought the bottle was mislabeled, as it was more like a good Scottish Ale than an IPA. Very hoppy, nice flawerful mix, no bitter aftertaste. Very Good indeed!

Bottle Pours a hazy orange, light amber. Nice fluffy off white head and blocky lacing. Aroma is very much citrusy, orange peels. Flavor is not so fruity, but mainstream moderatley hoppy. Nicely ballanced and tasty. Mild carbonation and a nice dry bitterness at the end, but not overpowering. Very tasty IPA. Thanks to Shady for this one

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2006 Bottle. Pours amber with small white head. Flavors of sweet caramel, grassy hops, and citrus. Finish is bitter and slightly dry, with some astringincy and soapiness that lingered. The finish is this beers weakness. Overall, not a bad IPA. I was expecting this to be a little better. Perhaps I need a fresh bottle. Their harvest ale kicks ass.

Pours a darker coppery color with a small white head. Aroma is west coast IPA hoppy with hints of citrus. Taste is also west coast hoppy with a nice touch of citrus to it. Would never guess that this is brewed in New York. Very good IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2013 The nose is a wonderfully sweet, sugary, grassy hop scent, with a cookie dough note as well... very fresh, very lively, almost TOO sweet of an aroma. Initially semi-smooth, lightly sweet, somewhat chewy with a nice, even caramel malt flavor. Not agressive, not overly bitter, just really pleasent while still remaining full-flavored.

The nose is greeted with a pleasent grapefruit aroma. Tier pours a reddish amber with a tan head and some lacing. The flavor is initially sweet but a dry grapefruit flavor comes to quickly dominate. The finish is clean.
