IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours a nice amber color with minimal head. Excellent citrusy, floral hop aroma with just a note of brown sugar. Flavor is big lemony, orangy hops up front fading to a sweet malty finish.

A decent IPA. Aroma is awesome. The aroma has hops, honey, and a fruity sweetness comprised of orange blossom, raspberry, and a hint of vanilla. The flavor includes some crushed aspirin, vanilla, carmel, and grapefruit with some orange. Not bad but not overly impressive either.

Pours an amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is of hops, citrus, caramel, and sweet malts. Flavor starts of with the sweet malts but quickly gives way to the citrus and piney hops. Has a decently bitter finish. Just like the other brews I’ve had from Southern Tier, they are quickly becoming one of my favorite brewers. They are very good with making beers with lots of hop and bitter flavor just like I like it.

(Bottled) Clear amber color with a small, tight head. Slightly sour, somewhat aromatic-hoppy, nutty aroma. Crisp, but pretty harshly hoppy flavor with some alcohol, wheat and toffee. Medium-bodied, slicky and slightly alcoholic palate with pretty low carbonation. A quite light, hoppy, but pretty harsh IPA.

From a twelve ounce bottle - Yeah, it’s an amber hued IPA with a tall head 0 It’s no "Phinn & Matt’s"!

Bottle. Pours orange amber. Aroma is very piney with sharp citrus (grapefruit). Just a bit of malt for balance. Better than most, but not the best.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2007 A little bit too thick and syrupy for me. Not a bad ipa if you like yours a little heavier.

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy off-white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated hazy dark orange brown colored body. The aroma was mild with mild hoppy and caramel notes. The mouth feel was mildly tingly from the hops and the flavor was mild hop and caramel malty.

Clean looking beer. Hoppy scent with some floral aroma. Flavor is mostly hops with a biscuity malt hint and a dry sweet finish.

Bottle. Small fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished with poor lacing, carbonated, transparent, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, caramel, pine, grapefruit and hops. Flavor was malty, hoppy, bitter, and citrus. Mostly smooth palate.
