COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Nice heady copper pour. Nose of apricot and navel oranges. Well balanced, medium body. Mild carbonation, well done, with a touch of vanilla in the finish. Great balance. This beer doesn’t hold up for sh#@ though, not like an ipa should, anyway. Yum.

I love IPA’s and this one happens to be my favorite. A healthy combination of fruity/floral aroma accented with a vanilla/piney backdrop. Just the right amount of hops which for me - a bit on the heavy side but not overdoing it to spoil the complexity. Very rich and satisfying to the pallet. Yum. I’ve been pleased to find this is regularly stocked at Wegmans. Makes me want to go grocery shopping right now.

Clear rich amber pour supporting a medium off white head with modest lacing. Very fruity and floral aroma followed by a smooth grapefruit dominant flavor with plenty of malt and touches of vanilla and caramel. Well balanced with a healthy dose of hops. Clean, hoppy and fruity finish.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 The nose strikes an emminent balance of resiny hops, lemon, and caramel malt, and this is one of those times that the nose is actually strikingly similar to the flavor. While hops play a crucial part in the flavor, the slightly sweet maltiness balances things through to the finish. A lingering fruity hop character lays on the tongue for a while at the end. Mildly carbonated, this beer takes a nice stab at the British style of IPAs not altogether common in the USA "big IPA" market. A great pair for a charred burger.

12 oz bottle from Shadey. Smells is of piney hops. Pours a nice golden color. Taste is pretty standard, with a nice hop profile. Balance is very good, and the finish is smooth. Nice IPA.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2008 Nice hoppy aoma, but a little faint. Taste is pinier and less sweet than I might have liked, but an altogether decent product at $2/12oz

Tremendous IPA. Had this in the woods out of the variety pack and was impressed with all of the ST beers, not the least of which was this one.
