COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPAís namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

yet another bonus in my trade with jah noth.the ipa poured a "clear" amber color with a small head that did leave nice lacing.the aroma and flavors was exaclty what i like in an ipa.ice tea, citurs, syrup, and pine all balanced this out nicely.this is damn good stuff.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2013 Deep gold amber and clear, with a medium off white tan small bead sudsy head. Moderate carbonation. Fresh cedar, juniper/gin. pine resin, minty herb. Not much in the way of sweetness. Mostly just bitter. Sometimes a little edgy. Itís a good IPA.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with beige foamy head. Fruitish hoppy aroma with some malty notes. Bitter hoppy flavour with dry finish. Standard IPA, but hides itís 6,5% well.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry at Bar Volo. Pours a hazy amber orange with a frothy, average size white head. Nice aroma of moderate to heavy hops, some citrus and a touch of malts. A heavy bitterness in the taste and to my delight, itís quite hoppy. Doesnít taste or feel like 6.5%. Very enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2008 bBottle (12oz)/b iAt Volo, shared with blankboy/i. Pours bubbly, clear amber, average head, not much lacing. Light copper or orange. Strong aroma of citrus and several hops. Tastes ... hops!! Lemon rind and coriander. Starts hoppy and lingers more hoppy. No maltiness I can detect, light body - basically a medium to medium -strong hoppy IPA. Not my favourite kind of beer, but if you like the variety, pretty sure youíll really like it. Please excuse the lower rating - Iím not a hop-head!

Pours amber with a foamy fingerís length lasting head. Smells of meadows, hay, grapefruit, oranges, and flowers. Tastes bitter with some minor caramel notes, pepper and floral notes. Lasting, nice carbonated mouthfeel.

I got the bottle at Halftime Beverage which seems to have a great selection of this companyís beers. It had a biting hoppy aroma and after the first sip, I thought that this beer is up there with Dogfish 90 minute and Victoryís HopDevil. But what keeps it from going over the top IMHO is its wetter finish and the bitter ends I tasted throughout the beer. Its tasty but a bit on the harsh side (yes I know IPAs have bitterness and love this style). It was a bit coppery in the finish as well. Iím ready to hunt down the other S. Tier beers down now.

Bottle - thanks rudolf. Ruddy and slightly hazy orange-amber colour with a small head. Big aroma of pine & spruce, orange zest, and some fruity malts in the background. Flavour is initially milder than I expected based on the aroma, with caramel and nuts off the top, but the finish has a long, lingering hop finish, with some peppery notes. A really nice session IPA - at least it would be if I had more than one bottle and could make a session of it!

Bronze coloured. Weak head. Malt sweetness from munchener malts I would guess. Slightly papery. Oxidized? Nice burps from pine woods...
