COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Amber-red. Orange juice nose. Really nice smell. Smooth, medium body was nice, too. Big pine ... but not your typical "pine," more of a name-brand-perfume pine. Curious note of something spicy or herbal. Malts had graham cracker, sweet cookies and earth. Hops were spicy, perfumy and piny. Balanced bitterness. Interesting beer.

Brwtopia 11-12-05. Amber color with small off white head. Strong sticky hop nose. Taste was all hops. More of an americane IPA.

Light amber color with a small beige head. Resinous hop aroma. Flavor of hops and buttery malt.

Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), moderately hoppy (apricot, flowers, resin), with a note of black tea. Flavor is moderately malty, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Surprisingly balanced and docile for an American IPA...guess it’s because it’s East Coast style. A little more malt in the mouth would be very welcomed, but it’s fine as-is.

Extremely strange, yet pleasant hop and malt aroma, with hints of pine needles dripping with caramel. butter, apple and pear, human skin, as well as hints of corn husk, tea, apricots and pine. Orange copper color, with no head. Medium body. Tea-like hop character, with a variety of fruits, along with pine-like hops. Malt body is full of butter toffee and caramel flavors. Fairly nice and enjoyable beer!

No head. Golden body. Spicy, big hop aroma. Spiciness almost reminds me of curry. Solid spicy hoppiness, complimented with prominent bitterness in the taste. Medium body. Well made stuff.

Pours with a short head and a amber color. Mouthful tastes rather thin. Nice hop character, not an intro microbrew, but something a non-craft beer drinker should be able to handle, and a beer that experienced craft drinkers should enjoy.

bottle from PineyPower. Thanks Dean! Pours a deep amber color with a small off white head. Nose is thick and malty, lots of caramel. Taste is thin at first, then a big blast of hops and caramel spew out, followed by a bitterness and a dryness upon swallowing. Some light dry notes of citrus remain in the mouth.

Quality IPA. Enjoyed at a bar in Syracuse. Not the best I’ve had, but nice hops and worth the taste.
