IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours a darker coppery color with a small white head. Aroma is west coast IPA hoppy with hints of citrus. Taste is also west coast hoppy with a nice touch of citrus to it. Would never guess that this is brewed in New York. Very good IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2013 The nose is a wonderfully sweet, sugary, grassy hop scent, with a cookie dough note as well... very fresh, very lively, almost TOO sweet of an aroma. Initially semi-smooth, lightly sweet, somewhat chewy with a nice, even caramel malt flavor. Not agressive, not overly bitter, just really pleasent while still remaining full-flavored.

The nose is greeted with a pleasent grapefruit aroma. Tier pours a reddish amber with a tan head and some lacing. The flavor is initially sweet but a dry grapefruit flavor comes to quickly dominate. The finish is clean.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark amber with a large frothy off-white head that lasted. Moderate hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium hoppy bitter flavor with an average finish.

I drove up to Syracuse, NY with a buddy and this was the first beer I had when we got there. Mind you, I had been drinking beer for the entire 5 hour ride up. We had to stop at every rest stop between Delaware and Cortland, NY. It poured a light copper with an off-white head. Nice floral hop aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel. Lemon, hops, pine, grapefruit, and caramel on the tongue. Good bitter finish. I wish I had stuck with this beer for the rest of the weekend. I drank Labatt Blue instead. I will NEVER drink that shit again.

12 oz bottle Pours a hazy dark amber with an off white head. Head was a little thin but good lacing. Aroma is hoopy citrus and perfime. Has a medium body with a good bitter flavor and a good aftertaste. This is a very refreshing beer. I like it very much.

(Bottle, courtesy of Silphium) Pours a lightly cloudy orange body with an average-sized creamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, tofee, and citrus. Flavor of breadiness and juicy hops. A very well balanced and tasty IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2007 Courtesy of secret santaand Duane. Pours copper with nice off white head. Aroma nice balance of caramel, faint toast, pine resin and citrus hops. Flavor the same. Hop bite not as strong as aroma indicates but enough citrus zest to help cleanse the palate. Probably wouldn’t pass west coast hop standards, but highly sessionable regardless.
