Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased from Friar Tuck’s in Bloomington.
Glass: Poured into my perfect pint glass.
Appearance: Hazy gold pour with a two finger white head.
Aroma: Very grassy. Hints of pine and citrus, but they do not dominate.
Flavor: Very grassy here as well. Solid IPA, but not my flavor profile.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation and a slightly watery mouthfeel.
Overall: Not the best IPA I’ve had. Don’t care for the grassy ones.

Bottled. The aroma has piney hops, some grass, little citrus. Clear, copper coloured beer with an off-white, lasting, medium head. The taste is moderate bitter, not too heavy on the hops, though a bit on the sharp side. Piney hops, slight touch of orange and grass. Good beer.

bottle. Pours a clear light copper color, inch of dense, bubbly off white head that sticks around and laces very well. Earthy, sharp, very resinous nose with some muted bready sweetness. Flavor shows much less character than the nose... resinous hop profile follows the nose, but shows very little depth. Notes of pine, sticky resin, and some faint citrus. Muted bready sweetness from the nose also appears, also on the weak side. Palate is average, with some decent body, light flavors, middling carbonation and a clean, lightly bitter finish. Somewhat disappointing- nose promises something interesting, flavor fails to deliver some of that promise.

Bottle poured to glass. Clear copper brew with small white head. Crisp piiney hops in the nose. Light and dry on the palate and bitter in the finish. O.K. Ipa. Not great.

Ditto from previous rate. Notes read, solid IPA. I enjoy this one. Nice balance of citrus and pine hops and malt sweetness. Taste has some nice hops and doesn’t linger too long.

Pungent, inviting, fiercely aromatic hops. Clear bubbly golden, frothy white head. Lots of citrus on the palate, very floral, long smooth finish with the bitterness.

Clear golden body. Lots of hop citrus and resin, grapefruit dominates with nice spice bite. Light caramel malt with a floral dry finish.
