Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Bottle thanks to MrChopin. Hazy dark orange-yellow body with two puffy fingers of off white head. Cracked sticky lacing. Grapefruit citrus hop aroma. Nice caramel bready malt then a nice citrus hop and floral hop finish.

Clear orange color with a bone colored medium sized head. Nose is pine, pink grapefruit, resin, and a slight sort of sour soapy smell. Tastes is toasted and oxidized, very acidic mouthfeel and kind of burnt tasting on the back end. This burnt smell blows off after a bit. Nose is much better than the taste.

nose of hops but not any kind of biting scent or anything really floral. flavor is similar. color looks good but this just tastes like lightly hopped water. not much body to speak of and not nearly bitter enough for something that claims to be ’triple hopped’, disappointing.

Pours a dark golden color with a fluffy off-white head. Lacing sticks throughout nicely. The smell is predominantly floral hops with a hint of breadyness. The taste is quite strongly floral hops with a few grapefruit tones in the attack making for a very high hop bitterness level. The finish brings a very earthy/grassy flavor. This brew has a fairly light mouthfeel and is rather dry in the finish with maybe a bit too much carbonation for my taste. This is a fairly drinkable brew. It is dry and bitter which is great for a pick me up on a cold snowy day, but would be ideal on a hot sunny day. Falls short of my expectation for reasons I can’t quite put my finger on. Pours a light copper colour with a thin creamy off white head. Nose is very much citrusy hops, a lot of grapefruit and it still manages to get some nice caramel malty backing in there too. Flavour up front is nice and malty and sweet. Finish is nice big hops, lots of citrus, and plenty of bitterness. Nice and thick and creamy in the mouth, carbonation is pretty much spot on. Nice IPA.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma of bitter citrusy hops. Flavor is a nice blend of citrusy, bitter hops and light caramel malt. Very refreshing and drinkable. Pretty similar to Harvest Ale but slightly hoppier. Nice beer.
