Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours a clear, medium orange-amber color with a quick, foamy, off-white head. Some nice, sticky swaths of lacing mark the glass. The aroma is pretty nice, showing lightly toasted bready notes and toffee malts, with a significant orange and grapefruit hop bite. Flavors follow suit, a serious dose of citrus hops providing the bitter bite needed to cut through the toffee malts. Good balance. Highly drinkable. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation. This is a very solid IPA for sure. I’ve come to expect nothing less from Southern Tier.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange gold with an off white bubbly 2 finger head that leaves some lacing. Smell is all hops, mainly pine but some citurs and floral hops smells mixed in there too. Taste is very nice... again mainly hops but some light malt tones mixed in for good measure. Mouthfeel is clean and dry. A very good IPA that I will drink more of.

A wonderful and delicious IPA that stands out. Aroma was hugely hoppy. Could smell it after I popped the cap. Strong pine and citrus hops. Pour was a nice medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was pine and citrus hops with nice carbonation and a grassy and bitter dry aftertaste. Can’t believe I missed this one!

Pours pale hazy golden hay with almost no head. Citrus and bitter hop aroma. Initial sweet hoppyness, with nice bitter bite and long dry finish. Moderate to light bodied. A standard IPA, good drinker.

12 oz bottle: Nice floral hop aroma, sharp citrus notes, a resin like pine notes, a slight detectable amount of roasted malts but the hops overpower them. Appearance is a nicely laced golden color with a tinge of amber poking through a soapy white film surrounds the top of the glass. Flavor is nice biting hops come to the forefront. A more rounded citrus note coats the mouth, then a slight roasted caramel slides it way through the pungent hop texture. There is a lingering hoppy resin that stays with you in the aftertaste. Overall, A solid IPA has a good hop backbone but not one the top tier. (pun not intended) Cheers!
