COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours pale gold with some white clings. Citrus, sugar, and a freshness in the aroma. Taste is grassy, citrus, and a tiny bit of funk.

Bottle from LCBO. I’m a from the bottle guy so can’t comment on appearance. The aroma is nice and hoppy on the floral/citrus side of things. The palate is a bit fizzy in the front of the mouth, but finishes nicely smooth, with some lingering bitterness and alcohol. The taste is slightly sweet for an IPA, but the bitterness of a well hopped ale shines through. Overall a really nice representation of the style.

Bottle. Pours golden with a medium white head. On the nose there’s floral notes with an herbaceous overtone as well. The flavour is mint, citrus and caramel malt. Smooth and bitter, nicely balanced. This is one extremely moreish IPA. Good stuff.

12oz bottle thanks to Robin
Appearance : Clear pale amber with a medium head. Extensive lacing. Nice looking !
Aroma : Nose hoppy, citrus, grapefruits and earthy. Some malt sweetness.
Taste : Malty and hoppy and fruity. Hops are citrusy and resinous.
Finish : Hoppy and malty. Bitterness is quite present. Some alcohol also. Finish a bit warm which is a bit surprising for such a low alcohol content.
Overall : Nice easy drinking well hopped brew. Nothing really stands out though. Well made, drinkable...just good !

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 1/19/10

Aroma: The nose is a mix of grapefruit, caramel, and flowers.
Appearance: This beer pours a barley hazy amber-orange color with a thin, foamy white head that leaves a good amount of lace on the glass.
Flavor: This is a pretty sweet IPA with grapefruit and caramel sweetness up-front, followed by a nice hop backing, pretty good balance.
Palate: A medium bodied IPA with a decent amount of carbonation.
Overall Impression: This is a pretty good beer. Maybe a little overly sweet for the style, but that is actually a pretty small criticism, as I liked it quit a bit. Another nice beer from Southern Tier, this one tastes pretty good.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a short off-white head that doesn’t last long. Plenty of fruity and herbal hops on the nose with notes of orange, grapefruit, mint and caramel. Flavour is nicely balanced between the juicy hops and the caramelly malt, with a small amount of sweetness and a good dose of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth and a little thick, with low carbonation and a long bitter finish. Very good IPA, quite refined.
