Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Bottle from the Southern Tier mixpack. The aroma is very floral and hoppy, malty much more malty than I thought it would be, great aftertaste would buy again, I am kind of upset that when the mixpacks handles broke and I dropped it that this was the only oen of the 11 that broke. Unfortunate haha

Bottle courtesy of GMCC2181 Pours a clear amber with one finger white head. Nose is malt and mild citrus hops. Palate is much the same with a slight resin finish. Medium mouth feel with minimal lacing. Decent session IPA. Thanks G!

Bottle: pours dark copper, nice aroma of hops with molasses/carmel notes. After the smell, I knew I would like this beer. Taste is similiar to aroma. Initiial hop taste gives way to a slight carmel malt sweetness that gives way to a lingering hop flavor. This is a nice IPA and the subtle sweetness keeps you intrigued.

pours dark amber, bubbly. a nice white head about 1 cm thick. aroma is floral, citrusy and a little metallic. has sweet maltiness, reminiscent of caramel and cotton candy. the sweetness transitions into the grapefruit bitterness that doesn’t linger for too long. nicely, subtley bitter. exceptionally smooth.

Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of mild bitter hops are dominating. Taste is a mix between some bitter hops and a nice caramel malt base. Full body with OK carbonation. Well done but nothing that really stands out for the myriad of IPA offering in the US.

12 oz bottle

This has been sitting around for a while in the fridge. I finally decided to do a bit of thinning and crack it open. I hope I can get to the next bottle soon. It’s not special but as is usual for most Southern Tier beers it gets the job done.

Aroma / Appearance - A basic white head typical of a standard IPA floated above the carbonated bronze body. Spruce, floor wax and caramel are the basic elements. I found nothing exceptional but it was enough.

Flavor / Palate - The chewy mouthfeel was a little thick with hints of honey and tree mulch. Moist until a slightly dry finish it is typical of most IPAs I have tried. Without being special it gets the job done.
