Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Enjoyed on tap at the Clark Street Ale House in Chicago.Decent IPA. But then there are dozens--maybe hundreds--of these out there. This is a good traditional IPA. It’s nice to try these once in a while. While I am partial to the American ’extreme" IPA’s, there is a craft that goes into a good IPA that should be appreciated, regardless of the IBUs.

I like how IPA’s make my tongue dance with delight. It’s like there are fireworks going off in my mouth, and it’s a giant Party. Hooray mouth party.

2/8/08 notes: bottle. Pours beautiful and unique hazy orange amber color. Scent is surprisingly light on hops or fruit. On palate, this beer is sweet and thick, and its hops quickly give way to a firm malt background. Finish is mildly bitter and coats the tongue. Overall, a very solid IPA, but I prefer a little more fruity hop presence.

Pretty good IPA. Sweet smell of apricots on the nose, with a pleasant hoppiness. Lacking in that metallic taste so many hop heavy IPAs & PA have.

An ok IPA. Decent amber color and aroma. Taste of the usual hoppy/piney character. The end is decently bitter.

Amber with thin off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops with a little sweetness. Taste is sweet with citrus hops and caramel. Decently balanced.
