Floral fruity and tea like sweet hops at first in the aroma, and then they turn to astringent, cleanser like hops which were slighly less pleasant. Taste is also a bit astringent and moderately hopped. Some spicy, green-ness to it as well. Thin bodied however and that detracted from its enjoyment for me. Still a decent IPA overall. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Thanks to Jennifer for this brew--Copper-amber clear body with a fluggy white head. Sticky, sweet, lush nose and full, complex hoppy flavor. The malt balanced out the generous hops quite nicely. Every beer I have had from Southern Tier has been quite good. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2007 bottle. pours a clear yellow amber with a puffy white head that never quite goes away and leaves a lot of thin lacing. big nose of heavy floral and citrus hops, with a bit of bready malt mixing in for fantastic effect. more floral and citrus hops in the taste, with similar bready malt, maybe a bit more caramelly, but also a bit metallic. finish is just right for an ipa: medium bodied, good carbonation, heavy on the bitter, but not harshly so, and with a decent malty sweetness to keep your palate in check. the slight metallic taste means i’ll pick other good ipas over this, but it’s still a keeper. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2007 12 Oz Bottle. Musky spice nose. Nice floral embellishments and edges of gin and lime. Pours a mostly clear pale amber, with a soapy slide of off-white. A bit of fennel cruises in with a dark, lightly dank hop cone cream. Slightly light bodied, but carbonation carries a good hop flavor a long way. Spicy, backed with a gentle deeper sweetness. Lots of cedar and minerals. Light herbal plants out the back. Not bad. A nip thin, but good unique hopping and overall dryness make it decent. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2007 aroma about knocked me over with the abundance of pine hops, a flavor that I warmed up to. pushing my tongue to the roof of my mouth generates a tingle that allows the malt to filter through. Nice brew. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 12oz bottle from my Secret Santa. Dark amber body with a frothy, 3 finger thick white head. Mostly lasting with incredible lacing. A layer of creamy foam stays on top of the beer the entire time. Initial aromas of grapefruit hops, oranges, lemons, fresh cut grass, pine cones and caramel malts. Smells very juicy and fresh, just like an IPA should. Fore is mildly astringent, some semblance of hops but mostly huge amounts of sweet caramel malts. Midway some hop bitterness comes into play, but again not in a very aggressive manner. Finishes with a nice bitter kick, then some sweet notes and finally ending in a bit of a watery grave. Light-medium bodied. Oily mouthfeel, style appropriate. In the end I would have liked a bit more hops throughout the flavor profile and the finish of the beer, to help dry things out more. Still pretty good, but the flavor is a letdown after the awesome aroma. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2007 A bottle from a Southern Tier variety pack. It poured a golden orange color that looked similar to iced tea. A nice foamy head that went down fairly quickly. The aroma was hoppy, floral and crisp. Very nice. A nice dry hop bite to the flavor with a subtle sweetness the longer I was drinking it, as the beer warmed slightly. The beer had a nice finish with the hops flavor lingering well after drinking.
