COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Burnt orange color and a tan off white head with average lacing. Aroma of citrus hops and dark biscuity malt, and a bit of caramel. Flavor has grapefruit hoppiness balanced with caramel malt, but a little light on both counts. This beer has potential but comes up a bit small on overall personality.

Clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma had hops with pine with and grapefruits. Flavour had pine, grapefruits and hoppy notes.

12oz bottle from onenote81. Pours a hazy caramel amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of pine, citrus, grapefruit, caramel, and honey and light spice. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, honey, light citrus, floral hop and spice. Generally medium body with a pleasing malty and light floral hop finish. Much maltier than I was expecting given the style.

Bottle. Orangish color. Citrus, grass, pine hops. Flavor is bitter with some good pine and grapefruit peel. Decent malt bill keeps this from being over the top with hops.

Bottle from Ølbutikken. Light amber, thin head. Strong pine forest and grass aroma. Fine balance between malty body and oily bitterness, a bit too much perfume in the tail. But wow!

12 oz bottle. I’m a fan of Southern Tier, but I was still really surprised at how good this is. The flavor is unlike any other IPA I’ve had; there’s a strong malty sweetness along with a certain indescribable creaminess. Highly recommended.

Bottle. pours a clear light amber with a beige head. Biscuity malts, caramel, toast, floral hops, marshmallow, some alcohol. happy with the balance. Not bad.

Jonte (1184) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2009 Bottle. Golden orange colour. Fruity and malty aroma. The taste is sweet, biscuity and fruity at first. Then more bitter. Notes of citrus, caramel, grass, apricot. Bitter finish. A bit one-dimensional on the hop front. Maybe better more fresh?
