Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Aug 14, 2007 Gift from neighbor (Non-ratebeerian, mowed his lawn when he went home to NY, a six of this was part of payment. I love a neighbor that gives good gifts. )Dark orange-amber yet very clear and clean, filtered, average size orange-cream colored head. Very citrusy bouquet bitter hops aroma, strong, welcoming. Solid bitterness, grapefruit zestiness. Extreme IPA yet very drinkable. Goes down smooth, finishes clean and leaves you wanting to grab another. Nihon (239), Vernon, Connecticut, USA Aug 11, 2007 Sweet hoppy aroma, kinda fruity. Doesn’t really taste like it’s aroma. Bitter aftertaste, which is common with IPAs. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Aug 11, 2007 Thanks to Duane for the bottle, hit the spot after a tough night at work! Bronze color, with a slight head. Sweet aroma, nicely hopped, but more flavorful on the aftertaste, Some caramel malt flavor, with hints of citrus, very drinkable, and refreshing, Good! Jwasciuk (194), Lowell, Michigan, USA Aug 10, 2007 Pours sparkling medium amber with a rocky white head. Aroma is of carmel, and heavy piney/grassy and grapefruit hop aroma. Flavor is well balanced, was hoping for a little more hops, but the hop flavor it did have was of floral/perfume . Light to medium bodied, watery and softly carbonated. mouse725 (74), Albany, New York, USA Aug 10, 2007 Bottle from a mixed 12-pack. Hoppy, but not overly so, a hint of citrus flavour adds some "zip" and contributes to the brew’s "refreshing" quality. Definitely will have this beer again. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2007 [484-20070803] Bottle (w/ jerc). Citrus peel hops, wheatie with a hint of feet. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Citrus peel zest hops with a lot of bitterness and a hint of bandaids. Medium body, finish is super dry and bitter. Prefer a sweeter taste but this is otherwise a nice hoppy beer. jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Aug 5, 2007 12 oz bottle. Bright clear copper with a medium white head. Herbal, citrusy hop nose with some grass and tea (aroma intensity: medium). Flavor starts with some caramel then plenty of citrus/orange/grapefruit and pine. Taste like a mix of cascade and noble hops. Has some unique-ness...perhaps the plesant tea-like hop character that I’ve picked up on Southern Tier’s hop-focused brews (such as UnEarthly IIPA) - which is interesting, because I usually don’t dig tea-like character in my IPAs but Southern Tier makes it work somehow. Medium body/viscosity with moderate carbonation. Very quaffable. Very nice session IPA. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 24, 2007 355 mL bottle. Copper orange with only a spotty film of head. Smells almost exactly like their "Extraordinary Ale" - perhaps even (floral) hoppier. Taste is more balanced than I expected; although it clearly tilts towards the hoppy end of the scale, there is a thin malty sweetness detectable as the beer hits the tongue. Hops give both floral and citrus flavours, as well as a lasting bitter finish. Beer is a little thin, with average carbonation. Alcohol is hidden well; I’d never guess it was this strong. Not bad, but I’ve had better IPAs.
