Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

355 mL bottle. Copper orange with only a spotty film of head. Smells almost exactly like their "Extraordinary Ale" - perhaps even (floral) hoppier. Taste is more balanced than I expected; although it clearly tilts towards the hoppy end of the scale, there is a thin malty sweetness detectable as the beer hits the tongue. Hops give both floral and citrus flavours, as well as a lasting bitter finish. Beer is a little thin, with average carbonation. Alcohol is hidden well; I’d never guess it was this strong. Not bad, but I’ve had better IPAs.

Bottle, pours amber with a small head witch is mostly diminishing and fair lacing. The aroma is of citrus hops. The flavor is also of citrus hops. The body is light to medium with a watery and creamy texture and lively carbonation. It is a average IPA, nothing to special about it.

Garden fresh hop aroma, with state fair caramel apple in support. Taste is overbalanced towards floral and herb hops , bitterness is there but low for an IPA. Seems like they were going for an English IPA,and went a little nuts with aroma hops. Nicely done, thanks Kingpin

Bottle sampled. Pours orange/amber with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, citrus, and pine. the flavor is sweet caramel malts, and load of hoppy bitterness.

Southern Tier IPA 12 oz bottle Recent brewing, enjoyed 07/07 Moderate pour in a mug. Poured a clear amber with a moderate fizzy white somewhat diminishing head. Smelt of moderate green hops, spruce and grass. Taste was upfront moderate bitter green hops and light sweet caramel malt followed by more of the same, althought the bitter hops are a bit more accented, on a moderate to long finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, lively carbonated, slightly oily and moderately astringent. Overall, a very good IPA that is up to par. Pleasant and drinkable.

Medium dark amber with a decent head. Smell is great, all hops. Taste is very smooth, crisp hops. Nice little bitter aftertaste. Solid ala round brew. Thanks for this one beagle.

Damn good IPA. Nice grassy hops in the nose with a dark amber color. Flavor had a good malt backbone with sweet caramel and a great hop finish. Good blend of hop flavors -- bitter and earthy/grassy. A must have for IPA fans.

What a surprise. I had no anticipation of this beer being good, but a friend likes their porter so I thought I’d try. Wonderful beer, tastes very smooth for an IPA. Hoppy, with a great finish. Not too bitter, but bitter enough to stand out. Will definitely buy this again.
