Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 16, 2007 Clear rust orange pour. Very sweet and pleasant aroma of caramel and maple syrup - woody, resinous, with a hint of plastic. Muted citrus hop tones offer swift, darting accents to this chewy toffee malt body. These are bright rays of nectarine and peach sunshine. Finishes on a creamy wheat grass flourish, giving way to another appearance of soft bourbon like sweetness. Palate could use a bit more life, but eases the flavor qualities into harmony quite nicely. Refreshing, with a full character. Thanks Jason! hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Jun 16, 2007 Updated: Jun 21, 2007draft- huge centennial hop aroma. Wow. A great flavor that brings in the bitterness nicely. Citrus going on. A brewer that knows how to brew this style.
Re-rate: not as nice out of the bottle. Less centennial hop presence, less interesting. (original rating: 6/16/2007) cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jun 7, 2007 Rated 5/15/07: Nice looking dark copper color, almost has a light amber hue. Frothy white head and some very nice lacing along with a powerful carbonation. Mildly faint aroma of citrus and hops (at least faint for an IPA). Calm flavor with a noticeable orange citrus zest. The hops are tame for this style but have a wonderful evergreen flavor, rather resinous to boot. Very malty, the mouthfeel is lightly chewy. Well balanced with a good drinkability. Satisfied my craving and was mellow enough to enjoy more than one. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA May 30, 2007 bottle . . pours deep clear copper with a white head . . aroma is grassy, hops, citrus, tropical fruit, coconut, vanilla . . taste is hops, grapefruit, grassy . . has a bite to it . . bitter . . not bad tagz (334), USA May 27, 2007 Updated: May 18, 2008(12 oz bottle) a solid ipa. pours burnt orange. has a strong grassy hop with moderate bitter. the flavor and palate are in line with your standard craft ipa’s but this one has a prominent pineapple aroma. the sweetness softens the flavor a bit too much for me. (plus i’m not a huge fan of pineapple). its definitely a solid beer and an interesting interpretation of the ipa, but its just not my style.
i revisited this one many times since and no pineapple to speak of. it has a nice balance. moderately sweet palate that is backed up by solid floral and piney hops. not sure what happened that first go round. must have been the batch. i’ve bumped this one up. solid. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2007 Hadn’t had this one in awhile and have always enjoyed it. Golden-amber color with a medium, dissipating head. Aroma has a nice grassy-woodsy hop aroma with some caramel and bready malts thrown in. Flavor is a nice grassy-citrus blend with some bready malt and just a hint of earthiness. Always a good one. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA May 20, 2007 Moderate hop aroma. Hazy orange color with a one finger white head that disapates quickly. Floral hop taste moderate hop bitterness in the finish. Mildy creamy. BeerandBlues2 (3200), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 19, 2007 12-oz bottle received via trade with Duane.
