COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Aroma: Excellent aroma of bitterness, alcohol, citrus, berries, resin, and just a touch of honey. Mouthfeel: Soft with a generous amount of bubbles. Medium to large body. Taste: Clean taste. Bold bitterness, earthy hops, dry and warming. Pine and grapefruit. Finish: Astringent and bitter (think grapefruit skin) finish. Long, very long duration. Fantastic. Overall: Lovely IPA. Not complicated, quite accessible, just the right thing.

12 oz bottle poured into a glass. Golden color with lasting white head. Nose is malt, citrus. Taste is caramel, malt, pine, citrus. Bitterness is somewhat intrusive. Not as good as ST 2x IPA for sure.

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a cloudy copper with a white head. Aroma of fruity hops with some hint of butterscotch. Citrus and grass notes in the flavor. Bitter, bitter finish.

A really nice ipa. Pours a cloudy peach colour with some sediment. Lots of aromas. Malty, honey, caramel, fresh, hoppy, piney. Sweet malty flavours with a nice bitter finish. Very good.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tall glass. Pours a nice off golden color with a nice white head that lasts a decent while. Aroma is nice and malty with some caramel, with a decent hoppy aroma of pine, citrus, maybe yeasty. Flavor is decently smooth with a moderate to heavy sweatness with an average bitter duration at the end. Notes of citrus, pine, malt, and yeast. Body is medium overall with average carbonation. Overall a solid beer.

355ml bottle form ’Beers of Europe’ and poured into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip glass @ home on 2 Nov 2012 during a ’random beer tasting evening’. The beer is a good golden looking brew with a full off-white/white head of large bubbles. The nose and taste is a pleasant hop blend of bitterness and floral notes which combine together very well. Although hoppier than most IPA’s we get in the UK this one wasn’t ’in your face’ and stupidly over hopped. Easy drinking IPA I’d happily have again.

Pours out an amber brown. Doughy aromas with some slight notes of grass. Sweeter flavors of bread and coffee with a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle. RB says this is 6.9 % ABV, but my bottle says 7.3 %. Oh well. Head is white, but there’s not much of it. The beer is a clear golden color. Aroma is caramel and fruity hops. Flavor is of bitter grapefruit; overall very refreshing. Mouthfeel is quite bubbly. Finish is bitter; sharp at first but mellows quickly.

I might be classified as a ’hophead’, i.e. I’m a ’sucker’ for American (I)IPA’s. Southern Tier’s IPA was a wee bit too effervescent for me, but still what I would call a good American IPA.
