IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Amber brew with a sweet and earthy aroma. Tastes of malts takes away from the hops and leaves the hops as a secondary rather than a primary hit with this so called IPA. While not horrible it is not what I expected from an IPA. Too much sweet malt in it and too many hops to give it a really defined hop flavor. Doesn’t need ot be so complex, just needs to be good. Overall a big flop on IPA but still a drinkable brew.

The hops hits you in the first sip, but not too much. A great floral piney smell. A great balanced beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear golden yellow with a big white fluffy head that never quite goes away. Aroma is light floral hops and honey. The taste is light, crisp and refreshing. There’s some floral and citrus flavors. The bitterness is pretty tame. A little oily, resin sort of flavor. Super easy to drink, better than average IPA.

I’m not getting much at all innthe nose, and it’s a shame, because other than that, this is a superb IPA. Slick mouthfeel, dank, bitter, delicious. It was hard to coax a head, too. It was bottled in 12/23/13, so it’s not like it’s old! Solid taste though.

Price: $15.99 for a variety 12-pack Purchased: Jan. 15, 2014 Consumed: Jan. 16, 2014 Misc.: DOB on Aug. 28, 2013 Poured an amber orange clear color with two fingers of khaki gray head. A good amount of sporadic lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-above average retention. Smelled pine hops, soapy, Cascade hops, floral hops, citrus hops, resin hops and caramel malts. Tasted very bitter notes, pine, Cascade hops, soap, citrus hops, slight resin hops and caramel malts. Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. Not as good as I’d hoped it would be, but still a decent IPA.

Pours a deep yellow color with a floral aroma. Taste is crisp and clean. Dry hopped flavor, with a lingering bitterness left on the palate after the swallow. Grass and resin flavor part of the overall flavor which dissipates quickly and lends itself to easy drinkablity.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a bright, brassy gold color with a big rocky beige head. Fresh citrus hop aroma with notes of resin and pine. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor has underlying notes of burnt sugar malt and peppery hops. Finish is dry and bitter.
