COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPAís namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

On tap at the dutch, pouted a nice amber color, translucent. Nice 1" head with plenty of retention. Lacing rings the pint glass as this critter is consumed. Scent is a mix of caramel malt and pine and citrus hops. I believe simcoe. Taste is very similar. I found this pint to be a bit more balanced than i was expecting. I did appreciate that. Mouth was medium, slight drying. A good ipa. Rated via BeerBuddy

Poured from bottle, clear gold with medium white head. Aroma with notes of caramel, bread, citrus and pine. Taste is nicely bitter with underlying fruityness and a long bitter after taste. Nice!

12 oz. bottle form Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: slight white head, golden color, clear, Aroma: heavy pine and caramel, citrus notes with slight alcohol in the back, Palate: medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish, sticky texture. Taste: sweet caramel on into pine bitterness with light grass and citrus notes, light alcohol on the back. Overall, pretty enjoyable IPA, very nice.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. I was surprised that I had not rated this before now. Orange-amber pour under a long lasting off-white head. The aromas are more subtle but also have some personality thanks to the grassy, earthy, and light citrus mingling with the toasted pale malts. Light to medium body. Something I did not expect in the taste was this sort of apple or pear flavor among those grassy and citrus hops. Mild lingering bitterness. Easy to drink.

Pours a hazy amber orange with a frothy, average size white head. Aroma of moderate to heavy hops, some citrus and a touch of malts. Taste has a heavy bitterness about it, quite hoppy as well. Enjoyable.

Light amber color, light lacing, small head, good carbonation. Strong, good aroma. Quality brew, very bitter, quality hops--for the hopheads, goes well with salty foods.

Nice amber looking beer. This IPA shows almost no carbonation, either from the bottom of the glass and head. Aromas are piney, resineous, hoppy as well. Smell is fresh and you can predict this one has a nice body. According to the nose, the mouthfeel is complex: I get freshness, sweet notes, smooth palate, hops, all at the same time. Interresting! Unfortunately, the taste cuts right in the middle of the tongue. Almost no after-taste nor bak-palate feel. This beer is nice but make me feel like I have to get everything from it very quickly because itís flavours evaporates in a second.

Bottle (12 oz) bought @ Winooski Beverage Warehouse.

Appearance: Clear golden/amber with a medium slowly diminishing white head that leaves good lacing.

Aroma: Strong pine/resin and orange with caramel, sweetness and cedar-like notes.

Taste: Strong resin, orange and caramel with medium to heavy sweetness, alcohol and harsh bitterness.

Palate: Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Oily and resinous mouthfeel. Harsh lingering bitter finish. Itís burning a bit too despite being only 7.3 % abv.

Overall: Like most beers I have tried from Southern Tier, this is completely unbalanced. This IPA is as harsh as some Triple IPA / hoppy Barley Wine. Minimal drinkability and enjoyability. Meh.

Bottle to shaker. Pours slightly hazy deep golden, two finger off white head. Nice lacing and retention. Aroma of pine, tangerine and lemon zest. Taste is nicely balanced hoppy bitter, mildly sweet. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, silky mouth feel. Finishes mostly bitter and dries. Tasting notes of caramel, grapefruit, resin, pine, wheat and grass. I like this, a very well done IPA.

12 oz bottle served in an Anchor Steam pint glass [from Dec. 2012 notes). Pours an orange-amber; about as orange as any beer Iíve seen lately. The off-white head is modest in dize but has decent retention and leaves some lacing. Has a noticeable amount of suspended sediment than eventually settles to the bottom of the glass. Aroma: very fruity, with hints of earthy spiciness and caramel Taste: fruity flavor, mainly but not exclusively citrus, with plenty of earthy spiciness and a moderate, piney hop hit mid-sip that carries intop the finish and beyond. Malt flavor is present but in the background. The bitterness of the sizable hop load is clearly tempered by the mix of 4 types of malts. Medium-thin body with adequate carbonation. O: a very enjoyable and unusally complex Amer. IPA. Recommended!
