COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

A really nice ipa. Pours a cloudy peach colour with some sediment. Lots of aromas. Malty, honey, caramel, fresh, hoppy, piney. Sweet malty flavours with a nice bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle. No label taken. Pours copper. Nose and taste of caramel malt, resin, grass and old citrus. Medium body.

33cl bottle. Pours dark orange with a moderate white head. Nothing much to say about it, unfortunately it was more than 1 year old and there wasn’t to much aroma or flavor just some malt and grain notes. I have to try it again for a more accurate review.

Hmm, this is cool beer. I also noted that my bottle is stamped the same 04/07/2014 date as a bottle reviewed below, and though I agree almost wholeheartedly with his/her assessment, our review differs a little bit. The nose was a little understated (no huge hop bomb) but there was still a lot going on. Caramel and bread from the malt, with tropical fruit, grapefruit and some pine. I didn’t find the beer actually lacked aroma, but the malt and hops are both fighting for your attention, which I quite liked. I’d call this beer a junior DIPA. Taste follows the aroma: a fairly sweet, boozy malt balanced nicely with some piney, bitter hop resin. The finish isn’t assertively bitter, but a nice lip-smacking bitterness lingers along with a good amount of alcohol warmth.

Transfer from BA review on 9-22-12- Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a clear medium amber colored beer with a one finger white head. The head faded over a moderate amount of time to leave a nice level of lacing. Smell – The smell was heaviest of a citrus and pine hop aroma. Mixed with the hoppy smells were notes of light (pear and peach) and tropical fruits. Taste – The taste begins a bit on the sweeter side, with some of the citrus that was detected in the nose being upfront in the taste. As the flavor advances the pine hop taste makes it arrival known and begins bitter the overall taste of the beer. As it furthers the taste is met with flavors of an herbal nature, which in the end leave a more crisp flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the average side for both creaminess as well as carbonation. Fairly good for the style; both drinkable as well as good for bringing out the hoppier flavors. Overall – Overall a good IPA. Not too strong and too light and quite easy to drink.

12oz bottle. Not bad. Definitely a malty ipa with a mild hop finish. A good gateway pa!

Pours out a slightly hazy light honey color. Spicy-citrus aromas. Flavor is of biscuit malts and spice. Some bitter pine, some citrus. A well balanced. Clean drinking IPA. Lingering bready-bitter finish.

355 ml bottle from the LCBO. Bottled 3.5 months ago (04/07/14). Pours a clear golden orange with thin soapy white head. Smells weak, peppery hops, some honey, caramel malt. Tastes malty, biscuit, toasted malt, with some herbal and fruitiness to it. Mild bitterness. Slight alcohol burn on this. Strikes me as more of a boozy English style IPA. I was expecting West Coast style. Not a bad beer, but not too impressive.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy, cloudy, amber to the orange. Bit of pine aroma, taste’s of pine needles redolent of the adirondaks and summer evenings. Smooth drinking, hide’s the alcohol well, all around competent, not special.

A good full bodied beer but drinks more to a thinner side, maybe due to warm up. This is a very good tasting beer that also hides it’s alcohol warming impact very nicely. When I take a big gulp of this golden brew I get a well balanced taste of malts and hops. THe hops are citrusy and floral, the malts are rich and support the hops greatly. Interesting that not alot of hops aroma is present, but there is agood bit of malt sweetness. Completely opposite to the taste. Some IPA’s you can smell the hops a mile away. Southern Tier IPA pours a bit hazy. A nice orange/amber color. Desent frothy white head, fading. A very good IPA that isn’t over powering. That means drinkability
