COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tall glass. Pours a nice off golden color with a nice white head that lasts a decent while. Aroma is nice and malty with some caramel, with a decent hoppy aroma of pine, citrus, maybe yeasty. Flavor is decently smooth with a moderate to heavy sweatness with an average bitter duration at the end. Notes of citrus, pine, malt, and yeast. Body is medium overall with average carbonation. Overall a solid beer.

Grapefruit with notes of pine and malt comprise the aroma. A clear amber pour with a quickly disappearing white head and clingy lacing. The taste is hop froward but nicely balanced by a malty bread-like flavor. Grapefruit, pine, bread, grain. As expected, a nice bitter finish completes the impression. Medium body with crisp carbonatin. Overall, a refreshing and balanced IPA that is easily drinkable - sadly I only have one.

On cask. Light, mildly hoppy aroma, fresh. Amber pour. Very smooth, but not as hoppy as I prefer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355mL bottle. Pours deep golden with an almost non existent aroma (slight skunk). Has a nice confronting bitterness although its backed by a lack of flavour and complexity. DOB on the bottle is 3.1.13 so surely the hop flavours and aroma wouldn’t be zero.

Bottle at home 16th May 2013. Nice American style IPA, sweetish, like it more bitter. Lovely drink though

A good American IPA that is more restrained on the hop side of the hop-malt balance. While I personally prefer the hoppier West Coast variety this East Coast example of the breed would appeal to many others and would not see me turning one down.

Pours dark gold in the glass. Citrusy malt aroma. Herbal bitter soapy flavor. The soapy bitter taste lasts. Overall, i might have to rerate. Maybe i got a bad beer or there was some residual soap in my glass. Not sure...

Bottle. Glad ST has made it down to Texas, now send down some damn choklat, mokah and java, dammit! Clear copper pour with a small head. Aroma is pine, cereal, grain. Flavor is pine, faint citrus and soap. Not super floral. Mid dry finish.

Another great American IPA. It is well hopped and 7.3% alc. The picture of Southern Tier label does not look like that anymore, could do with an update.

Between fragrance, mouthfeel, taste and yummy lingering aftertaste, this is a solid and balanced ipa and at 7.3 it packs enough weight to lighten your mood if the edge needs to be taken off.
