bluemooner (210), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 30, 2009 Pours pitch black with a medium tan head. Aroma has a lot of coffee with some roasted malts. Tastes also of strong coffee, with some chocolate and roasted malts, caramel, a bit of vanilla and a warming alcohol presence. Fantastic imperial stout. My only complaint is that the strong coffee presence seems to drown out some of the other flavors. angrypirate06 (351), Texas, USA Jun 27, 2009 Opaque black with beige head. Aroma of boozy coffee and dark roasted malts. Flavor is dark roasted malts, coffee with nice duration. Incredibly creamy mouthfeel. Mmmmmmm! Saarlander (1553), Saarlouis, California, Germany Jun 21, 2009 Pitch black pour, brown, slight head. This one is abit on the sweet side, what coffee is there, is Burnt in flavor, dark chocolate, some bitterness, alcohol is well hidden, enjoyed, but not great. JaBier (797), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jun 20, 2009 First time I tried this beer I was a bit disappointed because it didn’t taste a whole lot of coffee for a coffee stout. 22oz bottle that pours dark brown with a big tan head. Caramel malt aroma with some chocolate and the faintest hint of coffee. Subtle coffee flavor with caramel and chocolate in the finish. Subtle is good, but not in a coffee stout. Quality impy stout, but still disappointing on the coffee level. I want this beer to be to coffee like Choklat is to chocolate. bigrond (979), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 18, 2009 very good stout. Darkly roasted malts and coffee are a great cpmbo. I truely enjoyed this beer. Another winner from Southern Tier. KAME (144), California, USA Jun 14, 2009 I just couldn’t get into this one, maybe it was too sticky and sweet to enjoy. Pours like chocolate syrup into my glass, with a creamy brown head. Aroma is very rusty with lots of burnt coffee and and unsweetened baker’s chocolate. Flavoir is rich, with lots of coffee and molasses coming through. Mouthfeel is a bit too overwhelming to enjoy. shawnm213 (539), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jun 13, 2009 pours a deep brown with a small tan head. sticky mouthfeel. notes of chocolate malts, maple syrup. maybe a little too sweet jredmond (831), New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2009 Bottle split with Taftini. Pours a standard BLACKWATER SERIES body - pitch f***n black, no head. Aroma is strong coffee. Flavor is smooth, coffee, and chocolate malts. You can only just begin to taste a touch of alcohol if you take big gulps. This beer would be great as a desert.
