COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

Tons of coffee in the aroma, a nice light-roasted coffee with some chocolate. Dark black in appearance with a bit of brown around the edges and a thin, brown head. Tons of coffee flavor, nice warming note of alcohol and chocolate in the finished. Well balanced, not to bitter but not to sweet. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Thanks to whoever shared this one.

Pretty good stuff. Pours a chocolate black and has a bit of red earth head. Aroma is acidic coffee, roasted malt, earth, and hints of burnt chocolate. Flavor is acidic coffee with little chocolate. This one has a huge hop character that really defines the brew... and a bit of malt show through as well. Mouthfeel is a bit lighter than I would have liked...and also...kind of acidic. It doesn’t taste like a 12% beer. Pretty good stuff.

Poured into a snifter. Ominous, oily black. A vigorous pour only conjured up a bit of head that faded quickly. The aroma comes off like the coffee isle in the local grocery store. The 12% abv is obvious. Lots of roast, some underlying chocolate, and plenty bitter. The palate is full and rich, but the carbonation makes each drink very abrasive. The coffee is long lasting, and I do like that. I would love to know what technique that used when adding it, so I can copy.

Bottle. Thick and syrupy deep black with a barely noticible and quickly dissolving brown head. The alcohol dominates (even more than one expects from the 12% abv). IMO the beer is an inferior cross between a DFH WWS and a 9% abv russian imperial stout.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2007 Pours dark brown/black, with a brown head. Aromas are coffee and chocolate. Flavors are coffee, sweet chocolate, hops, dark fruit, and roasted malt. Body is on the heavy side. Very nice...I love it!!

Pours a dark black color with a huge dense brown head. Initial aroma of Celebrator, of all things... As the beer warms, there’s an aroma and taste of bittersweet chocolate that battles with the coffee beans for dominance. Body is thick, but not overly syrupy. Alcohol is well hidden. An excellent brew.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2006 Thanks to ChrisO. and JoyC. for the bottle. Pitch black, dense milk chocolate colored head. Aroma is almost entirely fresh ground coffee and bitter chocolate with a subdued alcohol presence. My favorite aspect of this great stout is the milk shake viscosity. It coats your mouth leaving behind a roasted mocha profile that seems to linger for ages. I’m not sure of the original source of the bottle or how old it was, but the 12% alcohol was barely noticable except for the wonderful whiskeyish warming in my belly. I would recommend serving this seductive stout close to room temp.

Jet black and thick as oil. Nice, fine-bubble tan head...almost nitrogen like. Aroma is very chocolate and coffee. Flavor is totally dominated by rich mocha. Heavy body. A delight to drink. I don’t remember finding any alcohol in it.

Gorbalev (2912) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 11, 2006
Bottle at Volo shared with GregClow and DougShoemaker. Pitch black, small brown head. Lots of hops come through, but are dominated by the coffee and roast in aroma. Oh yeah, some alcohol too (more on that in a bit). Thick rich coffee taste at first and then a tidal wave of alcohol - way too much. Lingering hops come through once alcohol wears off. Better as it warms - this was served at cellar temperature and we still had to wait more than 20 minutes before the alcohol diminished enough to make it drinkable. Complex and full of flavour, this one will definitely improve with age.

Black, with lessening heads following successive pours of the bomber. Clean coffee aroma. Intense and smooth, very creamy coffee taste with high alcohol. Suprising I could do the bomber me own self. Medium to full mouthfeel. The bewery has produced a praiseworthy effort
