shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jun 13, 2009 pours a deep brown with a small tan head. sticky mouthfeel. notes of chocolate malts, maple syrup. maybe a little too sweet jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2009 Bottle split with Taftini. Pours a standard BLACKWATER SERIES body - pitch f***n black, no head. Aroma is strong coffee. Flavor is smooth, coffee, and chocolate malts. You can only just begin to taste a touch of alcohol if you take big gulps. This beer would be great as a desert. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jun 10, 2009 Courtesy of Nbutler11, thanks Nick. It is pitch black with a small, light-brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, licorice, dark fruits, sweetness and preserved figs. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, coffee, licorice and dark, preserved fruit. I had hoped for a more pure taste of coffee, and IMO it is the overall impression very heavy – nice, but not nearly what I hoped for. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jun 6, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Aroma is mainly espresso, with roasted malts, alcohol, notes of chocolates hidden in the back. Flavor is good. *Lots* of Espresso, malts, vanilla, chocolate. Warming alcohol flavor. Definitely a beer for "iced" coffee fans. CheersMate1 (767), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 5, 2009 Didn’t have that viscous-type pour I was looking for, but surprisingly that didn’t affect that palate. Stil a VERY creamy palate. The beer has coffee written all over it. The one complaint I have with this one is the amount of coffee they put in it seems to overshadow all of the other flavors. This was the same problem with Terrapin Wake n Bake. There is an aromatic coffee aroma, this calls for a lack of nuances in the aroma. The coffee aroma is great but this beer is one-sided in terms of aroma. Very creamy palate. With the flavor it is all coffee. I don’t know if I have been drinking too much, but that is all I can tasate. A little bit of a roast flavor, with some SLIGHT sweet flavor(s), but sitll coffee, coffee, coffee...enough said. zizzybalubba (338), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA Jun 1, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Black pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate; a hint of alcohol as well. A bit more understated than expected. Taste is good and very balanced but the coffee taste is a bit underwhelming. Slight alcohol burn with this one. A good but surprisingly not great beer. tturner (103), , Washington, USA May 31, 2009 malty up front, with burned old coffee. thin and bitter, but balanced with sweetness on the finish. long bitter acidic aftertaste. great imperial stout foundation of sweet malty with subtle sarsaparilla hints.
