WinoInTraining (104), Longmont, Colorado, USA May 19, 2009 Tasty! Typical, Liqueur-esque edge, as with the rest of this line. Milk chocolate, hazelnut, marshmellow. Creamy texture. Finish drops off a bit quick, but otherwise, great. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA May 17, 2009 22 oz’er -- Thought I’d had this, but guess not. Poured thick and rich like a real cup of coffee with little to no top. The aroma is sweet yet firmly rooted in the coffee this beer advertises ... This presents itself with an incredibly rich and thick alcohol burn, strong with a coffeebean kick, but deliciously drinkable, too. Winner! (#3543, 5/17/2009) heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 17, 2009 While pouring, it looked cola brown, but was black in the glass. The head was medium brown sugar colored. Strong coffee notes up front with some notes of pancakes. There was also some blueberry. The taste was cola and coffee at first. The finish was a little ashy with some anise and wood. Decent, but a little cloying in the roast bean category. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2009 bomber from a KW group private order. pours black with a small tan head. aroma of coffee, kaluha, alcohol, and hops. flavour of kaluha with hops. this beer is awesome. truely a trip. coffee with hops while being big and boozy. i want more. not the fullest mouthfeel for and impy stout but drinkable and fun. id love to try this on tap. the best coffee stout ive had!! ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2009 Another beautiful dark blend. The nose has so much coffee that I thought the stuff had to have come out of an espresso machine. The 12% ABV was extremely well hidden in all the goodness. Not something I would be in the mood for often, but when I am, this is a fantastic coffee stout. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA May 13, 2009 Poured a dark black with tan head okay lacing. Aroma was of strong coffee and milk chocolate caramel and molasses. Flavor was much the same some grass in there and lots of roast. Mouthfeel was very think good beer alcohol was hidden really well.
robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA May 11, 2009 pours black with a very thin white head, and a little lacing.
smell is of coffee, some chocolate, some vanilla, and a touch of licorice.
taste is thick and dry, coffee, bakers and milk chocolate, vanilla, and licorice, ends dry and a little bitter. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2009 Updated: Jun 14, 2009Draft at Back in Black ’09 at Brouwer’s. Pours an appealing black with tan head. The coffee aroma dominates and makes me want to wake up next to this beer and the flavor follows suit. There are some great roasted malts in here with hints of vanilla, but the coffee dominates. The only negative is that it is a bit syrupy and thick, but you still wouldn’t know it’s 11%. Fantastic, very drinkable beer overall.
