markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2009 Thanks Gillard for the share. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is roast, coffee, and compared to other ST beers, this one is very... normal. There are elements of roast, and a great mouthfeel, but that is about it. Nice coffee lingering around in the finish, but it is not Creme Brulee... Bukowski9 (89), Piqua, Ohio, USA Apr 28, 2009 Bottle pour.Black pour with a great beige head.Aroma is like a strong espresso with caramel and roasted malt.Great coffee flavor with a little chocolate and maltiness.Really easy to drink,I loved it and am really getting into these coffee stouts!Great beer nd am definitely looking this up again! kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 26, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Gillard. Pours a dark brown to black with reddish highlights. Aroma is milk chocolate, coffee, hints of caramel and toffee. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of coffee, chocolate, toffee, caramel, honey, some hints of vanilla and spice. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing coffee finish. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Apr 24, 2009 The best smell of waking up! That’s fresh brewed goodness. Black with an off white head. I figured this would be thicker in body since I’ve had the Oat and Choklat now, but it’s fairly tame. Still coating and sticky in the mouth. Lots of dark roast, balanced coffee, something i’m not used to with southern tier. balance. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Apr 22, 2009 Updated: May 11, 2009Pours an almost pitch black with a creamy brown head. Big aromas here of malt and hops. Theres dark roasted coffee, hint of toffee, caramel, cake, and hops all producing this big roasted aroma. The flavor is very creamy and complex with dark roasted coffee and chocolate up front to stimulate the senses then goes into a little hop note and ending on a very high roasted note that lingers. Very sweet and bitter. An awesome brew in my book, and glad to have the brewery only a mire 5 miles away. DalzAle (476), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Apr 21, 2009 Bottle. Poured dark black, a little carbonation and some brown sugar and a mild burnt coffee aroma. Flavor was thick, roasted malts, coffee, very sweet sugar and warm and boozy on the finish. Definitely got better as the beer warmed up, I may try to get a bottle and drink at room temp next time. KidA (19), Morristown, New Jersey, USA Apr 21, 2009 Dark but not solid black with no head or bubbles. Coffee scent is overpowered by sweet alcohol- like a barleywine.
Thick and complex flaver: coffee, alcohol, sweet chocolate. Heavy malt balances serious hops. Slightly cloying, this would make a decent dessert beer and could have been classified as a barleywine. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2009 Very dark pour with small head. Nose of coffee, cocoa and hops...seems like this will be great. Yeah, it is. Flavors of chocolate cake mixed with coffee...and surprisingly not that hot. Very nice body with great finish.
