Commercial Description:
Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

’08 bottle - Pours black with a thin tan head. It has a big aroma of roast malt, coffee, and a touch of vanilla. The flavor has roast chocolate malts and plenty of coffee. The alcohol is buried under loads of sweet malt and some coffee bitterness lingers in the finish. It’s full-bodied and quite tasty.

Wow i really can’t say enough about this beer. Not to overpowering of a taste but still enjoyable. For 12% it drinks very smooth, I will drink this beer whenever I have the chance, awesome brew

Bottle. Dark brown pour wiht a slow forming, but large, tan head. Aromas are detectable from far away... thick coffee scents and dark chocolate are dominant. Closer inspection reveals a whisky-like alcohol presence and vanilla and cream. Flavor is thick with coffee (almost a burnt coffee taste) and has a vanilla sweetness to balance things out. Maybe it was just a great end to a long day, but this was excellent!

Bottle courtesy of rustychiles. Thick black color pour with a creamy tan head that lasts and laces nicely. Aroma and flavor are big on dark roasted coffee, along with roasted malt and licorice. Thick, creamy and mouth-coating. Like a strong iced coffee. Fantastic! Thanks Rusty.

Bottle from MaltOMeal at the December Houston tasting. Thanks! Pours deep black with a beige head. Aroma is vegetable nut and new carpet. Flavor is dark raspberry soaked in alcohol, with a strawberry finish. Thick and coating mouthfeel. Coffee? Where?

Bottle thanks to maltomeal at the Houston Impy stout tasting. A very late night beer so the notes are a bit...Black and no head. Soapy nose, burnt malts, coffee and musty too. Different. Taste of coffee but in moderation, musty again like an old carpet, and very hot. Overall though very smooth and drinkable but again it is just different given the musty, old attic nose and taste. I did like it though and would not mind trying it again when I have full faculties.

This poured a tick black in color with a thin brown head that faded amost entirely away. As expected the nose showed off the coffee along with milk chocolate and a mineral element. In the midpalate it was medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated before fading toward a dry and bitter finish. It should be noted that this hides its 12% alcohol exceptionally well.

Bottled winter 2008. Black opaque color, decent espresso head. Black coffee aroma, some licorice too. Very roasted flavor. Lots of tobacco, black coffee. This is quite dry, has a bit too much color malts maybe or then it is coffee. Could have more hops too. This is a simple little brother of Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast, but quite good one.
