This was all about darkness, creaminess and jah-va!!! Chewy, malty, toffee, creamy chocolate. I have to reiterate! Yum! Bitter hops and acidic coffee finish. More coffee than necessary, but that’s the point right? sebletitje (1903), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Thick black pour.Nutty colored head. Roasty aroma, first mouthfeel is malty/hoppy followed by cofee. Leaves a big aftertaste of coffee/mocha. The taste of coffee is hidden in part because of the high volume 12ABV.
Would def. try more of this great imperial stout. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Bottle courtesy Gillard. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Heavy aroma of coffee roasted malt, and bitter chocolate. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. Damn good. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2008 22oz bottle. I’ve gotten one of these n each of my last 3 trades and that’s a good thing. Pours thick and black with a thin creamy brown head, some lace, some oily residue on the side of the glass. Smells like coffee, strong coffee, slightly sweet, with a bit of a coffee ground scent as well. Taste is big and dark. Lots of roasty malt, coffee and chocolate flavors. Slightly sweet up front, bitter on the finish. Thick, syrupy, oily mouthfeel. Nice carbonation to compliment the viscosity of this brew. SuzyGreenberg (1324), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2008 22 oz. bottle - thanks to after4ever for this treat; equally as brash and bold as the choklat in the aromas and flavors, but much more drinkable and enjoyable to me; jet black with thin tan head; aromas and flavors are all coffee and not for the weak at heart; smooth and nutty; just delicious
