Commercial Description:
Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

Bottle pours black with a large tan head and clingy lace. The aroma is chocolate and espresso. The flavor is solid dark chocolate, malted milk, espresso, with a lingering bitter roast. Alcohol is not tasted. The palate is lively and fairly rich. Overall, this is delicious. I’m starting it out rather cold and like it this way.

I think I hyped this beer up a little bit to much before trying it so I was a bit let down. It is a good beer but I prefer some of the other java stouts out there (Bells and Barley Island offerings). I also found the Southern Tier Oatmeal stout to be better as well. But this is good in its own right. Aroma is coffee beans and alcohol. The alcohol taste is noticeable , but not overly strong. Coffee taste is weak in the mix and is just a supporting flavor with hints of sugary syrup. It is oily on the palate, but not all that thick for some reason. The taste it leaves on the palate is pleasant though.

I really do not know what to think of this beer. It had so many positive notes but some of the weaker notes really dragged it down. Poured a nice opaque black hue with a brown head which sadly had marginal at best lacing. Body seemed thin and was to an extent. Although this beer was creamy it was rather thin. Flavor had a strong coffee presence mixed with a sliight dark baking cocoa note in the background. Alcohol was present through out but stronger on the finish. My one disapoointent was the body being too thin. For an imperial stout i expected more and it wasn’t too be. Still good overall.

22oz bottle. Pours black with a creamy tan head but looks a little thinner than the oat or choklat, and a little thinner on the palate too. Coffee is definitely there but does not overpower, which is good. Smokey and malty with a bit of hops. A little alcohol burn with the aftertaste, but other than that it was well hidden. Not as complex as others, but gets better as it warms. Pretty good but not my favorite IS.

From a 22oz bomber. Pours a dark brown/black with a small tan head. strong aromas of coffee beans and roasty malts. Coffee, sweet amlts, roasty malts, hops and alittle touch of smokeyness come together to form a really good stout. Alcohol is well hidden. Smooth, thick mouthfeel.

Amazing coffee stout. When poured, it comes out a nice dark black with an amazing brown tan head that really reveals the coffee aroma into the air. It is very enjoyable an a good night capping beer.

Bottle poured into my tulip glass produced a small coco colored head that turned into a ring of lace around the glass on top of the black coffee colored body Aromas of coffee and roasted malts some sweetness of fruit to the aroma as well Flavors of coffee of course as well as sweetness from the malts and a good hop presence A good full mouthfeel with enough carbonation to keep it interesting I’m having this one for brunch so it is going down great I think the bomber will do it for me but I will grab another bottle for another brunch sometime
