wavers1 (109), novato, California, USA Oct 2, 2009 bottle courtesy of msante79, thanks man! pours thick black and requires a very, i mean very vigorous pout for a nice creamy brown 2 finger head. nose is mostly really good, fresh coffee. delicous! has tons of chewy resins and flavors going on. tons of roast, some char, lots of coco, some oatyness, and p[lanty of creminess! mouthfeel is amazing as usual with these is’s, full and bold with bitter burnt notes up front, very creamy full mouthfeel fading to an unbelievably smooth finish and a bitter/sweet aftertaste. very nice! again, very smooth for 11%, you can drink this like a milkshake. i’m liking the enamaled bottle also! Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Oct 2, 2009 Bomber sampled side by side with the mokah and the chokolat. Pours a thiner clearer mahogany with fair tan head. Better as it warms, but this has a spicy, old coffee bean note. but really kinda boring over all. And I just don’t think this is a very good coffee stout. Hides the alcohol just fine though. Crit (2398), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Sep 29, 2009 With all the hype I expected a great beer........what a let down!!
Black,no head.Potent unpleasant alcohol nose and profile.Sweet mocha, coffee.Syrupy, poorly blended. Harsh alcohol overshadows everything. Waste of money!! jonno (533), Brisbane, Australia Sep 26, 2009 Lovely pitch black pour, big roasty Impy with a lot of kick. Big tar nose on it.A lot going on and not dominated by coffee as I was expecting. A very good example of the style. Nena (112), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2009 Pours a nearly black brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is very much of roasty coffee with some vanilla in there. Flavor is mostly dark rich coffee, roasty burnt notes, with some chocolate, vanilla, and brown sugar. Full bodied, a bit sticky, and too rich for me to drink in large quantity. One of the more complex tasting stouts I’ve had, and quite delicious. As with other stouts from Southern Tier, it is exceptional for pouring over ice cream. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Sep 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours a brownish black with no head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and a little bit of floral hops come out. On the palate, it is chewy and thick. THe flavor is coffee, but it pulls out a little of the dark chocolate as well in the finish. A grerat beer. I was pretty impressed. altonbrownd (1831), Amsterdam, Netherlands Sep 22, 2009 Bottle from Bierkoning. Chocolate brown body with thinnest of head. Sweet and beautiful coffee nose. Taste is vanilla ice cream, with lots of chocolate. A sure delight. Full-bodied with sweet and strong flavours. Nice, nice, nice. JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Sep 20, 2009 pours a dark black colour with a thin head strong coffee aroma. strong flavour of dark coffee and chocolate and a smooth malty palate
