JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Sep 20, 2009 pours a dark black colour with a thin head strong coffee aroma. strong flavour of dark coffee and chocolate and a smooth malty palate Maddog (231), Kettering, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2009 Pours an opaque black with a thick, tan, creamy head that dissapates rather quickly. The body is huge, creamy and the flavor is extremely complex. Oily, roasty, bitter, malty with big time coffee throughout. Although Jamaican Blue Mountain is overrated as far as coffees go, it is still tasty and it really adds to this stout. This is one fantastic stout. yobdoog (1429), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Sep 18, 2009 Bottle and draft. Very dark thick pour with an off white head. Aroma is very rich, creamy coffee and espresso, almost dark chocolate like. Lots of sweetness like a latte. Flavor is so big. The creamiest riches smoothest coffee. Some alcohol but hidden really well. Like coffee cake and frosting. DiabolikDUB (143), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 17, 2009 Poured from Bottle into Tulip glass.
Pours a smooth black with some red-toned edging with a quick dissolving brown head that leaves a thin ring around the glass. The aroma is chocolate dominated with coffee some toffee and burnt sugar. The flavor is sweet with more chocolate than coffee roastiness and finishes with a coffee bitterness and slight alcohol burn. Its a velvety full-bodied beer. This isn’t necessarily a bad beer but it seems very sweet and I would like a little more carbonation. SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 16, 2009 Updated: Sep 19, 200922oz bottle . a lighter looking stout that isn’t quite opaque black under a quickly diminishing, loud, fizzy, tan head....eventually nothing. no lacing. caramel and raw coffee bean aroma with a hint of dog food. flavor really saves this beers poor appearance with a robust coffee, dark and milk chocolates, cream flavors. not bitter or acidic like some coffee beers. medium body with a creamy texture. better than most coffee beer creations. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Sep 16, 2009 Sampled at Bruegala 2009. Black with red tints. Small, off-white head is mostly lasting. Heavy chocolate milk nose with a mild coffee roast and sweet brown sugar. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter flavor with some burnt brownies/coffee underneath really hot alcohol. Soft carbonation over the top of a rather medium bodied imperial stout. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2009 Bruegala 2009 sampling - Pours a dark brown/black color with some ruby hints under a small tan head. Aroma is mostly molasses, caramel, chocolate and a light coffee note with some sweet brown sugar notes. Flavor is pretty hot with LOTS of bitter coffee flavor and quite a bit of acidity to it as well. Modest body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Overall I thought it was a bit too much coffee flavor for my tastes and there just wasn’t enough other flavors to counter the overly pungent coffee note. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 14, 2009 650 ml bottle at Haket, Göteborg. On September 12, 2009 Black color, tan head. Sweet, malty, chocolate smooth almost mellow scent. Smooth, sweet, roasted (a bit), some coffee taste. Smooth chocolate aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, low to medium low bitterness.
