Commercial Description:
Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

Bottle. This stuff is crazy-good! Pours black with very little head, and even this is quickly reduced to a thin ring of pale tan foam. Spotty lacing. Milk chocolate and coffee nose, some nice roasted malt in there as well, perhaps a hint of metal. Palate is where the magic happens, this beer has incredible coffee character, especially later in the palate and into the finish, big, broad,, complex roasty coffee, somewhere between Peche Mortel and Speedway. Some dark fruit, and a bit of ash in there as well, and some pervading maltiness. A bit boozy, and considering how flavorful it is, it seems a hair thin, but I’m really impressed with this.... hmmmm, doesn’t really improve as it warms up.

pour is black with a minuscule tan head that fades quickly. Nose is all coffee and cocoa. The taste is very coffee and chocolaty. A lot of vanilla too. A great beer.

22 oz bottle picked up at By the Bottle by Leems and graciously shared with me. Pours out deep, dark brown with a small, creamy tan head. Aroma is pretty dominated by coffee, but you can also pick out the typical chocolate and roasted malt notes. Very pleasing to the nose. Flavor also pretty heavily coffee with chocolate and malt flavors loitering. Pretty tasty brew, another one note winner from Southern Tier.

Bottle. High creamy and long laslting light brown head. Pitch black body. Powerful coffee cocoa roasted malt cream aroma. Creamy and mild and yet strong coffee roasted malt flavor with a touch of choccolate and even a hint of liquorice. Low carbonation. Long aftertaste. Alcohol well hidden. Lovely.

Surprisingly chocolate-driven coffee stout, and to great effect. Deep dark brown pour with goldy cognac highlights, swirls of espresso-crema head. Aromas of alcohol vanilla cocoa and dark-roast Arabica. Taste rich malts and pungent coffee, dry spiky grassy hop, wildflower honey, whisky, vanilla caramel and round tones of chocolate. Wonderful feel over the palate and just a bit of tannic tightness from the herbal hops which leads over a dry & bitter-sweet finish. Equal to Danish Stouts. I would buy this one and Choklat again in a heartbeat.

On tap at RnH (NYC): Yeah so it tastes like java, but has that "so what" factor. Malt flavors and bitter finish. Very good, but too sweet to enjoy a full pint.
