Commercial Description:
Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

22oz bottle. Vertical 2005 vs. 2008. Pours dark espresso black, brown head. Aroma is big coffee. Flavor is heavy sticky sweet malt. Lots of roast, long lingering coffee flavors. Ages superbly. Very heavy bodied. This is a big full flavored beer. Very impressed.

22 ounce bottle from State Line. Brewed Winter 2008. Pours a thick viscous black color with a thin head. Decent retention and fair lacing. Aroma of bitter coffee, chocolate, nutty roasted malts, maple. Taste is rich chocolate, rich and slightly bitter coffe, rich roasted malts, maple and vanilla. It’s rich. Full bodied. Barely any alcohol noticeable.

Opaque black with a small, but dense brown head. The aroma is of grilled meats. There’s a lingering sweetness in the finish. This is definitely too sweet for heavy drinking, but it’s definitely satisfying.

With all the hype I expected a great beer........what a let down!! Black,no head.Potent unpleasant alcohol nose and profile.Sweet mocha, coffee.Syrupy, poorly blended. Harsh alcohol overshadows everything. Waste of money!!

Rich black and shiny, topped with an inch thick cocoa head. Aroma is roasty roasty coffee, not much sweetness. Taste evens it out more, some sweet chocolate mixed with the strong coffee bean flavor, and pleasingly bitter at the end. Body is thick and almost chewy.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with average retention. Aroma of coffee with some roasted malt and some bitterness. Some roasted malt, medium bitterness and some coffee thought not nearly as much as expected, also dominates taste. Alcohol is well hidden and body is above average but lack some of the creamy texture I would have liked. Overall, this is a very good imperial stout thought I would have expected and loved a more prominent coffee flavour.
