| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Pours a black color with huge frothy tan head. Aroma is hugely hoppy with lots of citrus and floral hops. Hmm, not much coffee in the aroma, just an intense hoppiness. Taste is light coffee, milk chocolate, light caramel, and alcohol. For 12% this beer is pretty smooth and the alcohol is pretty well hidden. The coffee only shows up in the swallow but it doesn’t matter, the beer still holds is own despite lacking the coffee punch I expected. MoDog (927), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a snifter. This beer poured a dark brown with some mahogany highlights around the edges of the glass. A flimsy head of short lived tan bubbles left a small amount of lace. The aroma of the beer was made up of coffee, mild chocolate, roasted nuts, and some alcohol. The flavor consisted of fresh coffee, burnt sugar, nuts, a light chocolate note, and earthy yeast. A healthy amount of alcohol was also present. The mouthfeel was full-bodied but felt a bit thin and watered down. The carbonation level was moderate. I usally enjoy most offerings from ST (I loved both Oat and Choklat), but this was not one of their finer moments. Barrios (926), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Not the coffee flavors I would expect from a Southern Tier beer named jah-va. Different hints of cream and chocolate. Tasty! Syd (911), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Bottle pours black with a large tan head and clingy lace. The aroma is chocolate and espresso. The flavor is solid dark chocolate, malted milk, espresso, with a lingering bitter roast. Alcohol is not tasted. The palate is lively and fairly rich. Overall, this is delicious. I’m starting it out rather cold and like it this way. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
