Roasty, coffee aroma with some chocolate and a bit of caramel. Rich malt flavor with coffee and dark chocolate. Fuller silky body. Coffee and roast lingers with some chocolate and some hops. Alcohol nitceable, but in balance. Some complexity, but it doesn’t completely win me over. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Extraordinary nose of raspberry, fresh espresso, and fine dark chocolate. Big sweet, black coffee flavor with medium-high roasty bitterness. This is a solid, full-bodied imperial coffee stout.

This was all about darkness, creaminess and jah-va!!! Chewy, malty, toffee, creamy chocolate. I have to reiterate! Yum! Bitter hops and acidic coffee finish. More coffee than necessary, but that’s the point right? radagast83 (1317), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Aroma is mainly espresso, with roasted malts, alcohol, notes of chocolates hidden in the back. Flavor is good. *Lots* of Espresso, malts, vanilla, chocolate. Warming alcohol flavor. Definitely a beer for "iced" coffee fans. RCL (1498), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

A rich malty combination of coffee, plums, raisins and grain greeted my senses as I sniffed my sample. The body itself was deep black with virtually no head. On tasting it, the coffee really stands out as a strong expresso impression. Also present are chocolate dipped cherries and butter malt balls. Smooth at first but the alcohol soon makes its presence known. The finish reminded me of raw chocolate chip cookie dough and whipped cream. Overall, a nice beer that I might have to seek out again for a full bottle. EithCubes (2177), Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 26, 2007 Bottle. Aroma is deep, deep dark chocolate and heavy roast (coffee beans). Slightly sweet, but the roast is all over this. Pitch black pour with a soapy, energetic light brown head. Taste is bitter, sharply crisp at first but a little smoother with time. Again, loads and loads of roast and meaty dark chocolate, a touch of lactose. Faint fruity sweetness floating in the bg. Big chocolate cake, black malt in with the chocolate. Full, somewhat syrupy mouthfeel, just huge! (32 deg plato!) Aftertaste a milky chocolate but not quite as good as the main course. Derives a little too much fullness from its alcohol. Not as good as a Bell’s Java, which is extremely beany, and a bit rich, but still, a good coffee stout.
