Snifter poured on tap at Tribes Alehouse (Mokena, IL). Pours an opaque black, dark pour. A creamy tannish light brown head sits atop, big and brooding, lacing very well, almost nitro-esque. Aromas are the marriage of coffee and dark chocolate, sweet and roast mingle at a good strength, smells pretty "big" overall. Initial is big, a heavier side of medium bodied mouthfeel, a bit boozy, preaching bitter coffee and just a touch of dark chocolate, booze is a bit heavy for me. Strong bitterness on the backend is surpsingly, a good roast and dark chocolate is there but falls well behind the roast and bitterness. Not bad, Pretty good, flavors are on, bitterness strength is surprising.

Clear medium to dark black color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, coffee, cacao, moderate hoppy. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft. [20090926]

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty sweetish chocolate aroma with hints of coffee. Roasted malty sweetish coffee flavor with hints of chocolate. Has a sweetish roasted malty coffee and chocolate finish.

Aroma: Nose is dominated by roasted coffee with drops of chocolate and caramel
Appearance: Pours a jet black color with minimal brown head and drippy lace on the glass
Flavor: Taste is a bit sweet, lots of roasted coffee malts, and a light-medium bitterness in the finish
Palate: Quite a full bodied brew, somewhat creamy, with fairly soft carbonation, 11% is well hidden
Overall Impression: Holy coffee, Batman! This is a coffee stout for sure, they weren’t kidding at all when they labeled it that. Could make for a very nice morning beer if that’s your cup-of-tea (or should that be coffee). Bad puns aside, this is definitely a good brew for the coffee lover, I might not be able to sleep tonight thanks to this one...
Oh, and it went pretty darn well with a chocolate lava cake too.

Bottle, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Dark brown colour, nearly black, low head. Nice aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Coffee in the flavour too, also notes of alcohol and oak, there is also a slight acidity.

10th May 2008. Silky smooth stout with a mild carbonation. The coffee is beautifully integrated, smooth and never bitter but not wimpy either. There is an almost salty note running throughout nicely offset by creamyness. Semi dry finish. Excellent!

Aroma is heavy bourbon whiskey alcohol blast. Milk chocolate. More of a bitter creme brulee/toffee than java in the nose. Pours a dark chocolate brown. Coffee brown head, which disappears quickly. Tastes of creme brulee and bitter malt. Cocoa comes through. Takes some warming up for the coffee flavors to kick in. STRONG alcohol presence. BItters up at the end. Liqueur bite. Feels very smooth and milky. Really easy going down, save for that massive alcohol bite. It’s a pretty good, thick, alcohol-heavy brew.
