750 bottle. pours black with thin dark brown head. nice coffee aroma, some burnt caramel. taste is syrupy sweet, with coffee/espresso flavoring the rolls in and out. alcohol is well hidden. its more apparent in the smell. brings warmth to taste. mild, fine carb. nice flavors but its way too syrupy for me. the folks i was drinking it with bailed and i had to work my way through the whole 750 myself. a small glass is nice, but its too sweet for the long haul. may be better with some age.

Aug 18, 2008 Pours dark black with a creamy tan head. Coffee taste but I expected it to be stronger. Alcohol can be tasted but is hidden pretty well. Overall a good beer.

Aug 17, 2008 This is a solid imperial Stout. Pours a dark black with a thin tan head. Very good coffee and chocolate aroma. The beer is a little thick and sweet with some chocolate. Great coffee flavor. The 12% is incredibly hidden. Good stuff. Another good beer from Southern Tier.

Aug 13, 2008 Bottle marked that it was brewed in Winter 2008, which I find physically impossible, considering it is currently SUMMER, 2008! Either way, nice stout, but I am more of a Chokolat guy than a Jah-va guy. Pours with a largish, light brown head covering a black body. Aroma is strong coffee, alcohol, chocolate, vanilla and roasted barely. Taste is strong, sweet cohocolate, creamy, and a bit of mocha in the back. Creamy mouthfeel, with light bubbles.

Aug 13, 2008 Pours black with an average sized, light brown head with great lacing. Has an aroma of strong coffee and alcohol with a slight note of chocolate. Has a strong coffee flavor with a slight chocolate undertone. Creamy Texture. Overall i’d say its a decent, unique beer and a coffee lover’s dream.

Aug 12, 2008 Picked up a single 22-oz bomber at Riley’s World of Wines in downtown Madison, WI. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick tan head that slowly disappears to a fine film and tan ring. Aroma of heavy coffee that over powers most of the dark malt and any hop character. Taste is full bodied, lightly carbonated and has flavors of roasted dark malt, coffee, a touch of chocolate and some dark pitted fruits. Finish has a nice roasted dark malt and coffee aftertaste that lingers past the finish.
