3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Original review date 12/3/2008...
22 oz. into Duvel tulip...
Beautiful, ginger-colored, 2-finger head that’s very chewy and bready. Beautiful bonze/copper body with moderate carbonation and nice lacing. head has moderate staying power.
Awesome oily, floral hops...the dry-hopping yielded great results. Excellent grapefruit citrus tones backed by light-roasted malt backbone with good raw grain character. Light but full nose.
Straight-ahead citrus up front with lightly-stewed malt...a little light spice, too (ginger, cinnamon). Roast of various malts emerges with warmth. Not as forceful as on the nose but still extremely pleasant.
Definitely a citrus hop bomb with a creamy/oily malt backbone. A little biting but finish is full and bright...oily, oily, oily...
Methinks the excess citrus/rind bite precludes extreme drinkability but make no mistake...this is extremely well-done.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Translucent orange yellow. Minimal head. Malt, citrus, banana, and hop aroma. Mid bodied and relatively creamy. Malt lager backbone is definitely present, but potent citrus, hops, and a wee bit of supplemental tartness are the most vigorous flavours. Good.

On tap at World of beer.
Not a lot of hops on the nose. Mild citrus taste, however very well balanced for the amount of alcohol. This is a very clean tasting beer.

Bottle to glass. Pale yellow orange, medium head. Pine aroma, some barley and hops. A bit . Taste is not great. Just a raw strong, in your face beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This isn't a total drainpour but I did dump it. A bopper of this is too much. It's just unnecessarily big and far far too sweet.

22oz bottle poured into snifter
The Krampus pours a mostly clear bronze with a decent beige head that doesn’t last too long. The aroma pine and floral hops with a bit of caramel and bread. The flavor is mostly pine and floral hops with a touch of honey. Overall this is a pretty nice and unique beer.
