3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy golden amber color. The head is a two finger white shade with a frothy-looking texture. It doesnít have the best retention in the world, either.
S: There are some decent tropical qualities on the nose. I also note touches of grass, pine, and grapefruit. Aromatically, itís hardly explosive, just oh-so-pleasant.
T: Itís initially mildly bitter, with notes of piny hops and a bit of mango. I particularly enjoy the midtaste and its subtle fruit esters. The finish sees a return of piny bitterness. What it lacks in excitement it makes up for in drinkability.
M: I think itís a hair too fizzy and sharp on the back end - otherwise, I have little to complain about here, as the light, dry texture makes it eminently drinkable.
O: Very easy to like. Granted, itís not a fresh bottle, but beggars canít be choosers, really. This really works well as simple refreshment.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a very light pale with light head. Citrus and tropical fruit hop aroma. Taste is lots of grapefruit and grassy hop with bread-like backbone. Palate leaves a lingering taste. A great beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice hop aroma and appearance. Even better hop character on the taste, not much else on the palate other than the citrus hop flavor. Solid pale ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to shaker glass. Pours hazy golden, fluffy two finger head, nice lacing, great retention. Aroma of grapefruit. Taste is nicely bitter, just a touch of malt sweetness. Light bodied, lively carbonation, silky mouth feel. Finishes bitter. Tasting notes of grapefruit, lemon, mango and light bread. Some would call this a session IPA, damn good beer.

the name southern tier is so evocative of place. Discovered the brewery many years ago on a family trip to the Berkshires. Went back to the store to get more Southern Tier (unsure what style exactly) and they were sold out. Shows you how desirable their product is. Now finding it on and off in Boston area. This is good stuff. Wish availabilty was consistent.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gold-orange, cloudy, persistent and especially fine head. Smells great, floral. Tastes sweet and a little savory, less hoppy than the nose would suggest. Resin aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours golden into a pint glass with a finger thick head. Aroma is malty sweet, like bread. Taste is bitter up front but dissipates quickly and becomes sweet and complex malty. Finish is nice and sweet and biting. Very intense carbonation and medium thin mouth feel.
