COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine the best flavors of two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts, Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah, they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with - or as - your favorite dessert! Cheers!

Bottle, LCBO. Pitch black, slick black dark head. Huge chocolate aroma - this is all Choklat, with a hint of roast. Taste - oh man - just about perfect. The richness of the Choklat with the roast and sweetness of Javha balanced in a perfect package. Body could be a tad more robust to hold all of these flavours, bursting at the seams, in, but this is just about perfection otherwise. Great stuff.

Bottle that has been aging for a few years. Strong chocolate aroma. Black color and there is not much of a head left. Sweet chocolate beginning with a light burn in the finish.

This black stout has a chocolate and coffee aroma and offers full body sweetness with a light bitter aftertaste. It was a good choice for a cold day.

Poured from a bomber until tulip glass. Lovely sweet aroma that reminded me of cigar city southern slice. It just smells like a dessert. Flavor is quite good. Abv is hidden well. The beer is sweet all the way through, but never cloying. The chocolate is soft and simple but delicious. A slightly bitter finish mars things a bit, but still very good.

Bomber shared with judges. Deep brown black with a decent mocha head. Gorgeous chocolate and coffee aroma, sweet tick and rich. Flavour is richly chocolatey, nice dark coffee, molasses; very sweet with lots of cocoa, chocolate and coffee, decent bitterness. Lovely.

Aroma is complex. Fruity earthy coffee. Chocolate bitterness. Looks good. Dark black. Huge dark brown espresso head. Taste is a little acidic. Bitter. Earthy dirt. Hops cut through on the finish. I think the hoppy finish takes a lot away. I would rather have some sweetness. Boozy. Flavors are muddled rather than distinct. Palate is alright. A little dirty and aggressive. Overall a solid beer. Doesn’t taste as gimmicky as other chocolate or coffee beers. But the acidity and bitterness make it rough.

Bottle, picked up in Alabama. Pours opaque black with a large cremay brown head that has great staying power and really nice lacing. Aroma is pretty room filling, tons and tons of chocolate, some coffee in there as well, but mostly chocolate. Flavor is, yep, fully sweet, medium bitterness. Tons of chocolate, both baking chocolate and milk chocolate, some coffee flavors, but pretty subdued. Medium plus body, some creaminess. Plenty of lingering bitterness. Manages to hit you hard with chocolate without getting crazy artificial like Rogue Double Chocolate. Not a 100 point beer, but pretty solid if you are looking for dessert.

sample from bottle at 2014 houston big brew fest. Black with small head. Sweet stout with big coffee element with nearly as much chocolate. Pretty nice depth to this.

(650mL bottle from LCBO, ~1.5yo) Pours black with a moderate tan head and no lace. Aroma cocoa, milk and dark chocolate, a bit of dark roast coffee bitterness (faded?), pretty sweet and malty with a little vanilla - chocolate rules all though. On the palate, quite sweet initially, loads of chocolate both milk and dark, dark malts, toffee. Some roast bitterness, black coffee and cacao, chocolate continues. Finish has a fair amount of black coffee/roast bitterness, some alcohol heat, pretty sweet but also a bit dusty. Body medium-full and a bit oily, carb soft. When cool this beer was totally chocolate dominated with quite light roast and little coffee, but balanced out more when it warmed and the roast came up. I imagine the cellaring time dulled some flavors but it seems to be nice and harmonious. Dessert beer for sure, and might be too much when fresh, but rich and tasty with some time on it.
