COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine the best flavors of two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts, Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah, they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with - or as - your favorite dessert! Cheers!

22 oz bomber into a Chimay goblet. Pours the indicative Imperial Stout black with a one finger, frothy, espresso like head. Smells of milk chocolate, chocolate malt, and dark roast coffee. Taste was a little less complex than expected, but still very good. Lots of chocolate flavor however they managed to keep the sweetness down (which Im happy about). I didn’t really taste the coffee that I smelled in the nose. There was some roastiness but I feel it was more from the mats than the coffee. Mouthfeel was silky smooth and very easy to drink. Southern Tier has pulled it off with this brew which is good because Creme Brulee stout was very disappointing. Good brew but a little pricey.

Smells like chocolate syrup. No joke. Not much coffee on the nose, which is a bit disappointing. Pours pitch black with a light khaki head. Dissipates quickly. No lacing. Taste is lots of chocolate, some coffee, and woodiness and smokiness. Overall good, just expected more coffee.

Black. Tan head. Aroma of evaporated milk and cocoa. Lots of lactose flavor. Forward acidity on the palate. Some grease. Some hot pepper. Complex liveliness in this one. Neighbors smoking cigarettes obscure any further meaningful feedback from the senses.

Klugs out an opaque, very dark brown with a short dark tan head. Once the beer settles, milk chocolate dominates the nose. Thick, smooth texture with a little scrubbiness for balance. Big milk chocolate flavor with some seamless and welcome anise and/or cardomom bitterness at the finish. The 10.9 abv is very cleverly disguised.

On tap at the brewery pub. Way too sweet and had a harsh aftertaste. Not a big fan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter and a pint glass. There weren’t any significant differences in either one. The appearance was a nice dark brown close to brown colored body with a decent one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. There was some light lacing here and there in a messiness of sorts. The smell had a nice rolling bittersweet cocoa bean to roasty ground coffee bean hovering over top of some light vanilla. The taste was sweet all the way and pervades inside of a light roastiness that allows the vanilla to combine very nicely. There is a long lingering roasty to sweet milk chocolate aftertaste that lead to a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Overall, what a nice imperial stout to have again.

On tap at db bistro Miami. Much better than I had expected. Loads of powder cocoa aroma. Reminds me of the BNL beer but not quite as intense/sweet, but a similar flavour profile. Dark body brown head. Nice beer!

Bottle picked up from the brewery. Pours black with a thin off white head. Intense sweet aroma of milk chocolate and some coffee. Taste matches aroma, but slightly bitter. Medium to full mouthfeel, creamy and sticky. Zero aroma or taste of the high ABV, excellent. Wish I had picked up a few bottles instead of the one. I have not seen it in my (Michigan) area. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Its body has a very dark brown/black color that blocks out all light. The head on top is thick and foamy with a creamy tan color. It hangs on well as it slowly fades down to thin wispy layer that leaves behind some slick lacing. The aroma has a big sweet and creamy chocolate and roasted grain scent with a hint of dark roasted coffee. Also there is very noticeable boozy alcohol presence. The flavor has a big bold and boozy character. It has sweet roasted malts with loads sweet milk chocolate, warming alcohol and a slow finish of dark coffee with cream. The finish also has just a light hint of hop bitterness as well. The palate has a big full body with a velvety smooth texture and active yet smooth carbonation.
